Tecno Camon 50 4G

The Tecno Camon 50 4G has a slim profile at 7.5 mm thick, measuring 162.4 mm tall and 77.2 mm wide with a total volume of 94.0296 cm³. Its standout design trait is a certified IP68 ingress protection rating, which places it in the waterproof category and allows it to withstand submersion at a depth of up to 2 m. The device does not feature a rugged build and cannot be folded.

The Tecno Camon 50 4G uses an OLED/AMOLED touchscreen measuring 6.78″ with a resolution of 1208 x 2644 px and a pixel density of 429 ppi, delivering a sharp and vibrant visual experience. It supports a 144Hz refresh rate for smooth on-screen motion, and the Always-On Display feature keeps essential information visible without fully waking the screen. The panel does not carry branded damage-resistant glass and lacks support for HDR10, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision, and there is no secondary screen present.

The Tecno Camon 50 4G is driven by the MediaTek Helio G200 chipset, fabricated on a 6 nm process with a TDP of 5W, featuring an octa-core CPU configuration of 2 x 2.2 GHz and 6 x 2 GHz cores across 8 threads using big.LITTLE architecture with HMP support. The SoC includes integrated LTE, integrated graphics via the Mali G57 GPU clocked at 1100 MHz, and supports DirectX 11, OpenGL ES 3.2, and OpenCL 2. The device comes with 8 GB of DDR4 RAM running at 4266 MHz and a maximum supported memory amount of 12 GB, delivering a memory bandwidth of up to 17.1 GB/s, alongside 256 GB of internal storage. It is fully 64-bit compatible.

The Tecno Camon 50 4G sports a dual-lens rear camera system combining a 50 MP (f/2.2) and an 8 MP (f/1.8) CMOS sensor, covering a focal range of 14 mm to 70 mm with 3x optical zoom and built-in optical image stabilization. Autofocus options include phase-detection and touch autofocus with continuous autofocus during video, while the two-LED flash supports standard shooting scenarios — though it is not dual-tone and does not include RGB output. Manual controls extend to exposure, ISO, focus, and white balance, and the camera also supports burst mode, HDR, panorama, slow-motion video, and timelapse, though RAW capture, manual shutter speed, laser autofocus, and 360-degree panorama are absent. Video recording tops out at 1080p at 30 fps, with no HDR10 or Dolby Vision recording support. On the front, a single 32 MP camera with an f/2.5 aperture handles selfies, without a front flash, secondary lens, or under-display placement.

The Tecno Camon 50 4G runs Android 16 as a free and open-source platform, bringing a broad set of software features to the table. On the privacy side, it offers clipboard warnings, location privacy options, camera and microphone access controls, and the ability to block app tracking, though Mail Privacy Protection and cross-site tracking blocking are not present. Customization is well covered through theme customization, dynamic theming, dark mode, and an extra dim mode, while productivity is supported by split-screen multitasking, Picture-in-Picture, widgets, sharing intents, customizable notifications, notification permission controls, a media picker, full-page screenshots, Live Text, and the ability to play games while they download. The system also supports on-device machine learning, offline voice recognition, voice commands, multi-user profiles, app offloading, a child lock, battery health check, and phone tracking. Wi-Fi password sharing, focus modes, Quick Start, and the ability to be used as a PC are not included, and the device does not receive direct OS updates from the vendor.

The Tecno Camon 50 4G is equipped with a 6150 mAh rechargeable, non-removable battery that supports 45W fast charging, allowing for quicker top-ups over a wired connection. A battery level indicator is present to keep the user informed of remaining charge. Wireless charging and reverse wireless charging are not supported.

The Tecno Camon 50 4G features stereo speakers and a built-in radio, covering the basics for on-device audio output. It does not include a 3.5 mm headphone jack, and none of the high-quality Bluetooth audio codecs — aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX Lossless, or LDAC — are supported.

The Tecno Camon 50 4G supports Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n) and Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) alongside a cellular module, with download speeds reaching 650 MBits/s and upload speeds of 150 MBits/s, though 5G is not supported. It accommodates two SIM cards and connects via USB Type-C with USB 2.0, while NFC is also present for short-range communication. Navigation is handled through GPS with Galileo support, and onboard sensors include an accelerometer, compass, and infrared sensor, though a gyroscope, barometer, heart rate monitor, and motion or optical tracking are absent. Security is managed through a fingerprint scanner, while 3D facial recognition and an iris scanner are not featured. ANT+, DLNA certification, HDMI output, satellite emergency SOS, crash detection, a stylus, and a built-in projector are likewise not included.

The Tecno Camon 50 4G includes a video light to assist with recording in low-light conditions. The display is flat rather than curved, uses neither sapphire glass nor an e-paper panel.
