Tecno Camon 50 Ultra

The Tecno Camon 50 Ultra has a non-folding, non-rugged form factor measuring 162.4 mm tall, 77 mm wide, and just 7.4 mm thick, with a total volume of 92.54 cm³ and a weight of 178 g. Despite its slim profile, it carries a IP69 ingress protection rating with a waterproof depth of 2 meters, placing it firmly in the waterproof category and making it resistant to high-pressure water exposure.

The Tecno Camon 50 Ultra features a 6.78″ OLED/AMOLED touchscreen with a resolution of 1208 x 2644 px and a pixel density of 429 ppi, delivering sharp and vivid visuals. The panel runs at a 144Hz refresh rate and supports HDR10 and Always-On Display, while being protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2. HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and a secondary screen are not part of the display configuration.

The Tecno Camon 50 Ultra is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 chipset, built on a 4 nm process with 6,200 million transistors and an 8-thread CPU running at 4 x 2.6 GHz and 4 x 2 GHz using big.LITTLE architecture with HMP support. It comes with 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM clocked at 6400 MHz, a maximum supported memory amount of 16GB, and 256GB of internal storage, while peak memory bandwidth reaches 25.6 GB/s. Graphics are handled by the Mali G615 MC2 GPU running at 1047 MHz with support for DirectX 12 and a single display output, achieving a 3DMark Wild Life Extreme score of 1050. The SoC also integrates LTE, supports 64-bit processing, and the platform recorded an AnTuTu score of 944,781.

The Tecno Camon 50 Ultra sports a triple rear camera system with 50, 50, and 8 MP sensors at apertures of f/1.8, f/2.4, and f/2.2 respectively, covering a focal range of 14 mm to 70 mm and offering 3x optical zoom. The main camera relies on a CMOS sensor without back-side illumination, and autofocus is handled through phase-detection and touch autofocus, though laser autofocus is absent. Video recording reaches 2160p at 30 fps with continuous autofocus, while slow-motion recording is also supported; HDR10 and Dolby Vision recording are not available. Manual controls extend to exposure, ISO, focus, and white balance, though manual shutter speed is not included, and shooting modes cover burst, panorama, and timelapse. Flash is provided by two LEDs, though dual-tone and RGB configurations are not present. On the front, a single 50 MP camera with an f/2.4 aperture handles selfies, without a front flash, secondary lens, or under-display placement, and 3D photo and video capture is not supported.

The Tecno Camon 50 Ultra runs Android 16, an open-source platform that supports multi-user access, on-device machine learning, offline voice recognition, voice commands, and device tracking. Privacy controls are well covered, including clipboard warnings, location privacy options, camera and microphone access management, and the ability to block app tracking, though cross-site tracking blocking and Mail Privacy Protection are not present. The interface supports theme customization, dynamic theming, dark mode, and extra dim mode, while productivity is aided by split-screen multitasking, Picture-in-Picture, widgets, a media picker, sharing intents, customizable notifications, and full-page screenshots. Additional conveniences include Live Text, app offloading, battery health check, the ability to play games while they download, and a child lock. OS updates do not come directly from the vendor, and focus modes, Wi-Fi password sharing, Quick Start, and PC mode are not part of the feature set.

The Tecno Camon 50 Ultra houses a 6160 mAh rechargeable battery with a battery level indicator, and supports 45W fast charging for reasonably quick top-ups. The battery is non-removable, and neither wireless charging nor reverse wireless charging is available on this device.

The Tecno Camon 50 Ultra includes stereo speakers and a built-in radio, but does not feature a 3.5 mm headphone jack. Wireless audio codec support is absent across the board, with no aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX Lossless, or LDAC available.

The Tecno Camon 50 Ultra supports 5G connectivity alongside a dual-SIM configuration, Wi-Fi 4, 5, and 6, NFC, USB Type-C, and GPS with Galileo satellite support. Sensors on board include a gyroscope, accelerometer, compass, and infrared sensor, while biometric security is handled by a fingerprint scanner; 3D facial recognition and an iris scanner are not present. There is no external memory slot, HDMI output, barometer, heart rate monitor, ANT+ support, DLNA certification, or built-in projector, and features such as crash detection, emergency SOS via satellite, stylus, and motion or optical tracking are also absent.

The Tecno Camon 50 Ultra features a curved display and includes a video light, while it does not use sapphire glass or an e-paper display.
