Tecno Phantom V Fold 2

The Tecno Phantom V Fold 2 is a foldable handset with a physical footprint of 159 mm in height and 140.4 mm in width, folding down to a thickness of just 6.1 mm and a total volume of approximately 136.17 cm³. It weighs 249 g and carries an IP54 ingress protection rating, meaning it offers resistance against dust and water splashes in everyday conditions.

The main display is a touch-enabled 7.85″ OLED/AMOLED panel with a resolution of 2000 x 2296 px and a pixel density of 388 ppi, supported by a 120Hz refresh rate for smooth on-screen motion. The device also includes a secondary touch screen resolving at 1080 x 2550 px. Neither HDR10 nor HDR10+ is supported, and the display does not feature branded damage-resistant glass.

The device is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 Plus chipset, fabricated on a 4 nm process with an 8-thread CPU configuration running at speeds of 1 x 3.2, 3 x 2.85, and 4 x 1.8 GHz using big.LITTLE technology with HMP support. It pairs 12 GB of DDR5 RAM clocked at 3750 MHz across 4 memory channels with a maximum memory bandwidth of 60 GB/s and a supported ceiling of 24 GB, alongside 512 GB of internal storage. The integrated GPU operates with 10 execution units at a turbo frequency of 850 MHz, supports DirectX 12 and OpenCL 2, and the SoC includes integrated LTE. Benchmark results place the AnTuTu score at 1,023,935, with Geekbench 6 returning 1,281 in single-core and 3,545 in multi-core testing. The chipset is 64-bit compatible and handles all processing tasks on-device.

The rear camera system features three 50 MP lenses built around a CMOS sensor, with optical image stabilization, 2x optical zoom, and a dual-tone LED flash using two LEDs. Autofocus options include phase-detection and touch autofocus with continuous autofocus during video, though laser autofocus is not present. Video recording reaches up to 2160p at 30 fps, and the camera supports slow-motion recording, HDR mode, timelapse, burst mode, and in-camera panoramas, while 360-degree panorama and RAW capture are not available. Manual controls cover exposure, ISO, focus, and white balance, but manual shutter speed is not included. On the front, a dual-lens setup combining 32 MP and 16 MP sensors sits behind an f/2.5 aperture; it does not have a dedicated front-facing flash, and the rear flash does not use RGB LEDs.

The device runs Android 14 and offers a broad set of privacy controls, including location privacy options, camera and microphone access management, clipboard warnings, and the ability to block app tracking, though cross-site tracking blocking and Mail Privacy Protection are not present. On the customization side, it supports dynamic theming, theme customization, dark mode, extra dim mode, customizable notifications, widgets, and a media picker, while focus modes, app offloading, Wi-Fi password sharing, and Quick Start are not available. Productivity is addressed through split-screen support, picture-in-picture, full-page screenshots, Live Text, sharing intents, and the ability to play games while they are still downloading. The system also includes on-device machine learning, offline voice recognition, voice commands, device tracking, multi-user support, a child lock, and a battery health check, and is classified as free and open source, though it does not receive direct OS updates from the vendor and cannot be used as a PC.

The Tecno Phantom V Fold 2 houses a 5750 mAh rechargeable battery with a battery level indicator, and it supports fast wired charging at 70W as well as wireless charging at 15W. The battery is non-removable and does not support reverse wireless charging.

The device includes stereo speakers and a built-in radio, but does not have a 3.5 mm headphone jack. Bluetooth audio codec support is limited, with aptX, aptX HD, and aptX Adaptive all absent.

The device supports 5G connectivity with a cellular module, accommodates two SIM cards, and reaches download speeds of up to 7000 Mbits/s and upload speeds of up to 2500 Mbits/s. Wireless networking covers Wi-Fi 4, 5, 6, and 6E, while Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, and USB Type-C handle shorter-range and wired connections; there is no external memory slot. Location and navigation are covered by GPS, Galileo, and a compass, and onboard sensors include a gyroscope and accelerometer, though a barometer, infrared sensor, and heart rate monitor are absent. Biometric security is provided by a fingerprint scanner, while 3D facial recognition, an iris scanner, and a stylus are not included.

The device includes a video light, while the display is flat rather than curved and does not use sapphire glass.
