Tecno Pop 9 4G

The Tecno Pop 9 4G carries an IP54 ingress protection rating, meaning it offers a degree of resistance against dust and water splashes suitable for everyday conditions. It does not feature a rugged build designed for harsh environments, nor does it support a folding form factor, following a conventional candy-bar design instead.

The Tecno Pop 9 4G uses an IPS LCD touchscreen measuring 6.67″ with a resolution of 720 x 1600 px and a pixel density of 263 ppi. Its 120Hz touch sampling rate contributes to responsive input handling during everyday interactions. The display does not support HDR10, HDR10+, or Dolby Vision, and there is no Always-On Display mode, no secondary screen, and no branded damage-resistant glass covering the panel.

The Tecno Pop 9 4G is driven by the Unisoc T615 chipset, an octa-core processor built on a 12nm process that combines two cores clocked at 1.8 GHz and six cores at 1.6 GHz using big.LITTLE technology, with 8 threads and a TDP of 10W. It ships with 4GB of DDR4 RAM running at 1866 MHz and 128GB of eMMC 5.1 internal storage, with the platform supporting a maximum memory configuration of 12GB. Graphics are handled by the Mali G57 GPU, which features 2 execution units, 64 shading units, and a clock speed of 850 MHz, with support for OpenGL 3.2, OpenGL ES 3.2, and OpenCL 2. The SoC also includes integrated LTE, ARM TrustZone security, 64-bit support, multithreading, and 1MB of L3 cache, while Geekbench 6 scores of 437 single-core and 1461 multi-core reflect the chip's overall compute profile.

The Tecno Pop 9 4G features a dual-lens rear camera system led by a 13MP CMOS sensor with an f/1.8 aperture, supported by phase-detection autofocus, touch autofocus, and continuous autofocus during video recording. Manual controls cover exposure, ISO, focus, and white balance, while shooting modes include HDR, burst, panorama, slow-motion video, and timelapse. Video capture tops out at 1080p at 30fps, though there is no optical image stabilization, no optical zoom, no laser autofocus, no RAW output, no manual shutter speed control, and no HDR10 or Dolby Vision recording support. The rear flash uses two LEDs but is not a dual-tone or RGB unit. On the front, an 8MP single-lens camera handles selfies without a dedicated flash, and it is not positioned under the display.

The Tecno Pop 9 4G runs Android 14 and includes a broad set of privacy controls, covering clipboard warnings, location privacy options, and camera and microphone access management, though Mail Privacy Protection and cross-site tracking blocking are not present. Personalization options include theme customization, dynamic theming, dark mode, and an extra dim mode, while productivity is supported through split-screen multitasking, Picture-in-Picture, a media picker, full-page screenshots, customizable notifications, widgets, sharing intents, and the ability to play games while they download. The software also provides on-device machine learning, offline voice recognition, voice commands, Live Text, a child lock, multi-user support, a battery health check, and device tracking capabilities. Focus modes, Wi-Fi password sharing, app offloading, Quick Start, and the ability to function as a PC are not included, and the device does not receive direct OS updates from the vendor.

The Tecno Pop 9 4G is equipped with a 5000 mAh rechargeable battery that supports 15W fast charging, and a charger is included in the box. A battery level indicator is on hand for monitoring charge status. The battery is not removable, and wireless charging is not supported.

The Tecno Pop 9 4G covers the basics of audio with stereo speakers, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a built-in radio. On the wireless audio side, none of the higher-quality Bluetooth codecs — aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX Lossless, or LDAC — are supported.

The Tecno Pop 9 4G supports 4G cellular connectivity with download speeds of up to 300 MBits/s and upload speeds of up to 150 MBits/s, and accommodates dual SIM cards alongside an external memory slot for expandable storage. It connects via USB Type-C and supports Wi-Fi, while location is handled through GPS and Galileo. The device includes a fingerprint scanner and an accelerometer, but does not feature NFC, 3D facial recognition, an iris scanner, or a heart rate monitor. Satellite emergency SOS, crash detection, HDMI output, ANT+, DLNA certification, motion tracking, optical tracking, and a built-in projector are all absent, and no stylus is included.

The Tecno Pop 9 4G includes a video light for illumination during video recording. The display is flat rather than curved and is not protected by sapphire glass, nor does the device use an e-paper screen technology.
