The device does not feature a rugged build and cannot be folded, making it a standard candy-bar form factor. Notably, it carries no water resistance rating, so it offers no certified protection against moisture or dust.

The Tecno Spark 20P uses an IPS LCD touchscreen measuring 6.6 inches, with a resolution of 720 x 1612 pixels and a pixel density of 267 ppi. It supports a 90Hz refresh rate, which contributes to smoother on-screen motion during everyday use. The display does not include branded damage-resistant glass, and it lacks support for HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and Always-On Display functionality. There is no secondary screen, keeping the overall display setup straightforward.

The Tecno Spark 20P is powered by the Mediatek Helio G99, a 6 nm octa-core chipset with two cores clocked at 2.2 GHz and six at 2.0 GHz, supported by 4GB of DDR4 RAM running at 4266 MHz and 256GB of eMMC 5.1 internal storage, with a maximum supported memory amount of 12GB across two memory channels delivering up to 17.1 GB/s of bandwidth. The SoC employs big.LITTLE architecture with HMP scheduling, integrates LTE, and includes ARM TrustZone security, while the Mali G57 GPU clocks at 950 MHz with a turbo frequency of 2133 MHz, 32 shading units, support for DirectX 11, OpenGL ES 3.2, and OpenCL 2.0, and can drive up to two displays. Benchmark results place the chipset at 222,000 on AnTuTu and at 729 single-core and 1,979 multi-core on Geekbench 6, with the processor operating within a 5W TDP and a maximum CPU temperature of 95°C, and the platform supports 64-bit processing throughout.

The Tecno Spark 20P features a multi-lens rear camera system headlined by a 50 MP CMOS sensor, capable of recording video at 1080p and 30 fps with continuous autofocus during recording, while phase-detection autofocus and touch autofocus are available for stills. Manual controls extend to exposure, ISO, focus, and white balance, and shooting modes include HDR, burst, panorama, timelapse, and slow-motion video, though manual shutter speed, optical zoom, RAW capture, laser autofocus, 360-degree panorama, HDR10 recording, and Dolby Vision recording are not supported. The rear flash setup uses three LED units, though it is not a dual-tone or RGB configuration, and there is no back-illuminated sensor on the main camera. On the front, an 8 MP single-lens camera is accompanied by a dedicated LED flash, though it does not sit under the display and does not form part of a multi-lens arrangement.

On the usability side, the OS supports dark mode, extra dim mode, dynamic theming, theme customization, customizable notifications, notification permissions, a media picker, widgets, split-screen multitasking, Picture-in-Picture, full-page screenshots, sharing intents, a child lock, and the ability to play games while they download, while focus modes, Wi-Fi password sharing, app offloading, and Quick Start are absent. The platform also includes on-device machine learning, offline voice recognition, voice commands, Live Text, phone tracking, and multi-user support, and it is free and open source, though it does not receive direct OS vendor updates and cannot be used as a PC replacement.

The Tecno Spark 20P houses a 5000 mAh rechargeable battery that supports 18W fast charging, and a charger is included in the box. A battery level indicator is present, making it straightforward to monitor remaining charge. The battery is not removable, and wireless charging is not supported.

The Tecno Spark 20P includes a 3.5 mm audio jack and stereo speakers, along with a built-in radio and a dual-microphone setup. None of the advanced Bluetooth audio codecs — aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX Lossless, or LDAC — are supported, so high-resolution wireless audio transmission is not available on this device.

The Tecno Spark 20P is a dual-SIM device with a cellular module supporting download speeds of up to 650 Mbit/s and upload speeds of up to 150 Mbit/s, though 5G is not supported. Wireless connectivity includes Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, and NFC, while wired connections are handled via a USB Type-C port running USB 2.0, with no HDMI output available. For location, the phone supports GPS and Galileo satellite systems, and onboard sensors include an accelerometer and compass, while a gyroscope, barometer, infrared sensor, heart rate monitor, and motion or optical tracking are all absent. Security is handled by a fingerprint scanner, with no iris scanner or 3D facial recognition on board, and there is no satellite SOS or crash detection functionality. Storage can be expanded via an external memory slot, and no stylus, ANT+ support, DLNA certification, or built-in projector is included.

The Tecno Spark 20P includes a video light for illumination during video recording, while the display is flat and uses neither sapphire glass nor an e-paper panel.
