Umidigi G9 5G

The Umidigi G9 5G has a fairly tall and slim profile, measuring 167.2 mm in height, 77 mm in width, and just 7.9 mm thick, giving it a relatively slender feel for its size class. It weighs 189 g, which is a moderate heft for a device of these dimensions. The phone does not feature a rugged build and offers no water resistance, so it is not designed to withstand harsh environmental conditions. It is also a standard candy-bar form factor, as folding is not supported.

The Umidigi G9 5G features a 6.75″ IPS LCD touchscreen with a resolution of 720 x 1600 px and a pixel density of 260 ppi, delivering a reasonably sized canvas for everyday use. The panel supports a 90Hz refresh rate, which contributes to smoother scrolling and more fluid interactions. It does not include branded damage-resistant glass, and there is no support for HDR10, HDR10+, or Dolby Vision, so color and contrast capabilities remain within standard LCD range. An Always-On Display mode is not available, and there is no secondary screen.

The Umidigi G9 5G is powered by the Unisoc T765 chipset, built on a 6nm process and configured with two cores clocked at 2.3 GHz and six cores at 2.1 GHz using big.LITTLE technology for balanced workload distribution. It comes with 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM running at 2133 MHz, with the device supporting a maximum memory amount of 10GB, alongside 128GB of internal storage. Graphics are handled by the integrated Mali G57 MC2 GPU, running at 850 MHz. The SoC supports 64-bit processing and includes integrated LTE, rounding out a platform that covers the core performance needs for everyday tasks.

The Umidigi G9 5G sports a triple rear camera setup led by a 50MP main sensor with an f/1.8 aperture, accompanied by two 2MP auxiliary lenses each at f/2.4, all using a CMOS sensor without back-side illumination. The main camera supports phase-detection autofocus for stills and continuous autofocus during video, along with touch autofocus, though laser autofocus is not present. Manual controls cover ISO, exposure, focus, and white balance, while manual shutter speed is not available. Video recording tops out at 1080p at 30 fps with slow-motion support, but there is no optical image stabilization, no HDR10 or Dolby Vision recording, and no optical zoom. Additional shooting modes include HDR, burst, panorama, and timelapse. A single LED flash is included on the rear, with no dual-tone or RGB flash option. The 8MP front camera sits behind an f/2.2 aperture, is a single-lens unit without an under-display or front-facing flash configuration, and 360-degree panorama and RAW capture are not supported on either camera.

The Umidigi G9 5G runs Android 14 and includes a broad set of privacy and usability features. On the privacy side, it offers clipboard warnings, location privacy options, camera and microphone access controls, and the ability to block app tracking, though Mail Privacy Protection and cross-site tracking blocking are not present. The interface supports theme customization, dynamic theming, dark mode, and an extra dim mode for low-light comfort. Productivity is aided by split-screen multitasking, picture-in-picture, full-page screenshots, a media picker, customizable notifications, widgets, and sharing intents. It also supports on-device machine learning, offline voice recognition, voice commands, Live Text, phone tracking, a child lock, multi-user accounts, and a battery health check. Games can be played while downloading, and the device is based on a free and open-source platform. Features not included are focus modes, Wi-Fi password sharing, app offloading, Quick Start, direct OS vendor updates, and the ability to function as a PC.

The Umidigi G9 5G is equipped with a 5000 mAh rechargeable battery that supports 18W fast charging, and a charger is included in the box. A battery level indicator is available for monitoring charge status. The battery is not removable, and wireless charging is not supported.

The Umidigi G9 5G includes a 3.5mm headphone jack for wired audio and a built-in radio. Speaker output is limited to a single channel, as stereo speakers are not present. On the wireless audio side, none of the advanced Bluetooth codec options are supported, including aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX Lossless, or LDAC.

The Umidigi G9 5G covers the core connectivity bases with 5G cellular support, Wi-Fi 4 and Wi-Fi 5, and Bluetooth 5.0, along with a USB Type-C port and a dual SIM card slot. Storage can be expanded via an external memory card slot. For location, the device includes GPS with Galileo support and a compass, while the sensor array also features an accelerometer. Biometric security is handled by a fingerprint scanner, though 3D facial recognition and an iris scanner are not present. NFC is not supported, and neither are DLNA certification, a gyroscope, a barometer, an infrared sensor, a heart rate monitor, ANT+, HDMI output, motion or optical tracking, a built-in projector, crash detection, emergency SOS via satellite, or a stylus.

The Umidigi G9 5G includes a video light, which can be used to illuminate scenes during video recording. The display is flat rather than curved, and there is no sapphire glass protection or e-paper display technology involved.
