Umidigi G9C

The Umidigi G9C has a slim profile at 7.9 mm thick and weighs 189 g, with overall dimensions of 167.2 mm in height and 77 mm in width. It is a standard, non-folding handset without a rugged build, and it carries no water resistance rating. The device has a total volume of 101.71 cm³, making it a conventionally sized smartphone in its category.

The Umidigi G9C features a 6.75″ IPS LCD touchscreen with a resolution of 720 x 1600 px and a pixel density of 260 ppi, delivering a reasonably sharp image across its large panel. The display runs at a 90Hz refresh rate, contributing to smoother scrolling and general interactions. It does not include branded damage-resistant glass, and there is no support for HDR10, HDR10+, or Dolby Vision. Always-On Display and a secondary screen are also absent from this model.

The Umidigi G9C is powered by the MediaTek Helio G36, a 12 nm octa-core chipset configured as four cores at 2.2 GHz and four at 1.8 GHz, using big.LITTLE technology and supporting 8 threads with multithreading enabled. It is paired with 6GB of DDR4 RAM running at 1600 MHz across two memory channels, offering a maximum memory bandwidth of 13.9 GB/s and supporting up to 8GB total, while 128GB of eMMC 5.1 internal storage handles local data. Graphics are handled by the integrated PowerVR GE8320 GPU, clocked at 650 MHz with a turbo frequency of 680 MHz, supporting DirectX 12, OpenGL ES 3.2, and OpenCL 1.2. The SoC includes integrated LTE, NX bit, and TrustZone security, and the chip is fully 64-bit compatible. Geekbench 6 scores stand at 229 for single-core and 842 for multi-core performance.

The Umidigi G9C features a dual-lens rear camera system with a 50 MP main sensor and a 2 MP secondary lens, using a CMOS sensor and supporting phase-detection autofocus, touch autofocus, and continuous autofocus during video recording. Manual controls are available for exposure, ISO, focus, and white balance, while additional shooting options include HDR mode, burst mode, in-camera panoramas, slow-motion video, and timelapse. The main camera records video at 1080p and 30 fps but does not support HDR10 or Dolby Vision recording, and there is no optical image stabilization, laser autofocus, RAW capture, manual shutter speed, 360-degree panorama, or 3D recording. A single LED flash is present on the rear, without dual-tone or RGB configurations. On the front, an 8 MP single-lens camera with an f/2 aperture handles selfies, though it lacks its own flash and is not positioned under the display.

The Umidigi G9C runs Android 14, a free and open-source platform that supports multi-user profiles, split-screen multitasking, Picture-in-Picture, widgets, and sharing intents. Privacy features include clipboard warnings, location privacy controls, camera and microphone access management, and the ability to block app tracking, though cross-site tracking blocking and Mail Privacy Protection are not present. Customization options cover dark mode, dynamic theming, theme customization, and customizable notifications, while extra dim mode and a child lock add further usability controls. The OS includes on-device machine learning, offline voice recognition, voice commands, device tracking, a media picker, full-page screenshots, battery health check, and the ability to play games while they are still downloading. Focus modes, app offloading, Wi-Fi password sharing, Quick Start, and the ability to use the device as a PC are not supported, and direct OS updates from the vendor are not available on this model.

The Umidigi G9C is equipped with a 5000 mAh rechargeable battery that supports 18W fast charging, and a charger is included in the box. A battery level indicator is present for monitoring charge status. The battery is sealed and non-removable, and wireless charging is not supported.

The Umidigi G9C includes a 3.5 mm headphone jack for wired audio and a built-in radio. It does not feature stereo speakers, and none of the advanced Bluetooth audio codecs — aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX Lossless, or LDAC — are supported.

The Umidigi G9C supports dual SIM cards and connects wirelessly via Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n) and Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac), alongside Bluetooth 5.4 and NFC. Wired connectivity is handled through a USB Type-C port running USB 2.0, and an external memory slot is available for storage expansion. The device supports LTE cellular with download speeds of up to 300 Mbit/s and upload speeds of up to 150 Mbit/s, but 5G is not available. Location capabilities include GPS with Galileo support and a digital compass, while an accelerometer is also present; however, there is no gyroscope, barometer, infrared sensor, heart rate monitor, or motion and optical tracking. Security is handled by a fingerprint scanner, while 3D facial recognition and an iris scanner are absent. Features such as HDMI output, DLNA certification, ANT+ support, satellite SOS, crash detection, a built-in projector, and a stylus are not included.

The Umidigi G9C includes a video light for use during video recording. The display is flat rather than curved, and the device does not feature sapphire glass or an e-paper display.
