The Varmilo Minilo98 Pro is a mechanical keyboard with a full 98% layout and a standard profile, using a gasket mount for its internal construction. It supports wireless and wired connectivity, with options for Bluetooth 5.1, 2.4 GHz wireless, and USB, and delivers a battery life of 480 hours alongside a 1000 Hz polling rate. The cable is detachable, and the board is not designed specifically for Mac. Physically, it measures 388 mm wide, 140 mm deep, and 37 mm thick, weighing 1700 g, and it comes with a one-year warranty.
The keyboard features a plastic and aluminum case in white, paired with a polycarbonate plate, and includes both adjustable feet and a wrist rest in the box. It has a backlit layout with south-facing RGB lighting, which directs the LEDs toward the bottom of each switch for a particular lighting style under the keycaps.
This keyboard comes fitted with Kailh Prestige Silent mechanical switches, which have a linear feel and require 42 g of actuation force across a total travel distance of 3.6 mm. The switches are hot-swappable, meaning they can be replaced without soldering directly on the board.
On the firmware and customization side, the keyboard supports QMK and VIA, allowing for key remapping and layout configuration, though ZMK is not supported. It includes N-key rollover (NKRO) for registering simultaneous key presses, while features such as analog input, rapid trigger, dual actuation, adjustable actuation, USB passthrough, and an onboard display are not present on this model.
The keyboard uses an ANSI (United States) layout with a standard key arrangement and comes with PBT double-shot keycaps in an OEM profile. Media controls are accessible via the Fn key rather than dedicated keys, and there is no rotary dial on this model.
