Vivo S50

The Vivo S50 has a slim profile at 7.6 mm thick and weighs 196 g, with overall dimensions of 157.5 mm in height and 74.3 mm in width. A standout aspect of its build is its IP68-rated water resistance, which certifies the device as waterproof down to a depth of 1.5 m. It is a standard candy-bar form factor — it neither folds nor carries a rugged-grade construction.

The Vivo S50 features a 6.59″ OLED/AMOLED touchscreen with a resolution of 1260 x 2750 px and a pixel density of 459 ppi, delivering a sharp and detailed image. The panel runs at a 120Hz refresh rate and supports an Always-On Display mode, keeping glanceable information visible without fully waking the screen. It does not include branded damage-resistant glass, and there is no support for HDR10, HDR10+, or Dolby Vision, nor does the device feature a secondary screen.

The Vivo S50 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, a 4 nm chipset with an octa-core CPU configuration running at 1 x 3, 4 x 2.8, and 3 x 2 GHz using big.LITTLE technology, backed by a TDP of 12.5W. It comes with 16GB of DDR5 RAM at 4800 MHz and 512GB of internal storage (eMMC 5.1), with a maximum supported memory amount of 24GB and a peak memory bandwidth of 64 GB/s. Graphics are handled by the integrated Adreno 735 GPU clocked at 1100 MHz with 3 execution units, supporting DirectX 12, OpenGL 3.3, OpenGL ES 3.2, OpenVG 1.2, and OpenCL 2, with output to a single display. The processor supports 64-bit computing, multithreading, integrated LTE, and ARM TrustZone security, while the cache configuration includes 1 MB of L2 and 8 MB of L3. Geekbench 6 scores are recorded at 2019 (single-core) and 5570 (multi-core).

The Vivo S50 features a triple rear camera system with sensors at 50 MP (f/1.9), 50 MP (f/2.7), and 8 MP (f/2.3), covering a focal length range of 23 mm to 70 mm and offering 3x optical zoom. The main camera array uses a CMOS sensor with optical image stabilization, phase-detection autofocus, touch autofocus, and continuous autofocus during video recording, though laser autofocus is not included. Manual controls extend to exposure, ISO, focus, and white balance, while manual shutter speed is not available. Shooting modes include HDR, burst mode, panorama, timelapse, and slow-motion video, though 360° panorama, HDR10 recording, Dolby Vision recording, and 3D capture are not supported. A single LED flash is present at the rear — not dual-tone or RGB — and there is no front-facing flash. The 50 MP front camera sits at f/2.0 in a standard single-lens setup, without an under-display placement or a secondary front lens.

The Vivo S50 runs Android 16, a free and open-source platform that supports multi-user profiles, split-screen multitasking, Picture-in-Picture, widgets, sharing intents, and the ability to play games while they are still downloading. Privacy features are well covered, including clipboard warnings, location privacy options, camera and microphone access controls, and app tracking blocking, though cross-site tracking blocking and Mail Privacy Protection are not present. The interface supports dark mode, dynamic theming, theme customization, an extra dim mode, customizable notifications, and a media picker, while focus modes and Wi-Fi password sharing are not available. Additional capabilities include on-device machine learning, offline voice recognition, voice commands, Live Text, full-page screenshots, battery health check, app offloading, phone tracking, and a child lock. Direct OS updates from the vendor are not supported, and the Quick Start feature is also absent.

The Vivo S50 is equipped with a 6500 mAh rechargeable, non-removable battery that supports 90W wired fast charging, and a charger is included in the box. A battery level indicator is present to keep track of remaining charge. Wireless charging and reverse wireless charging are not supported.

The Vivo S50 has stereo speakers and supports a range of Bluetooth audio codecs, including aptX, aptX HD, and aptX Adaptive, though aptX Lossless and LDAC are not available. There is no 3.5 mm headphone jack, and the device does not include a built-in radio.

The Vivo S50 supports 5G connectivity alongside dual SIM functionality, Wi-Fi 4, 5, and 6 (802.11n/ac/ax), and Bluetooth 5.4, with download speeds reaching 10,000 Mbits/s and upload speeds up to 3,500 Mbits/s. Wired connectivity is handled via a USB Type-C port running USB 2.0, and there is no external memory slot or HDMI output. The device includes NFC, a fingerprint scanner, GPS with Galileo support, an infrared sensor, a gyroscope, an accelerometer, and a compass, while a barometer, heart rate monitor, ANT+ support, and DLNA certification are absent. Security biometrics are limited to the fingerprint scanner — 3D facial recognition and an iris scanner are not featured — and no stylus is included. Crash detection, emergency SOS via satellite, motion tracking, optical tracking, and a built-in projector are also not part of the feature set.

The Vivo S50 includes a video light for illumination during video recording. The display is flat rather than curved, and neither sapphire glass nor an e-paper panel is used.
