Vivo V40 Pro

The Vivo V40 Pro has a slim, conventional form factor — it does not fold and lacks a rugged build — yet it carries a solid IP68 waterproof rating, meaning it is fully rated against water ingress. The device measures 164.4 mm tall, 75.1 mm wide, and just 7.6 mm thick, with a total volume of approximately 93.83 cm³. At 192 g, it sits at a moderate weight for its size class, rounding out a design that prioritizes thinness and water protection over heavy-duty durability.

The Vivo V40 Pro features a 6.78″ OLED/AMOLED touchscreen with a resolution of 1260 x 2800 px and a pixel density of 453 ppi, paired with a 120Hz refresh rate for fluid on-screen motion. The panel supports both HDR10 and HDR10+, and delivers a striking contrast ratio of 8,000,000:1, though Dolby Vision is not supported. An always-on display mode is available, and there is no secondary screen. The display does not use branded damage-resistant glass.

The Vivo V40 Pro is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9200 Plus chipset, built on a 4 nm process with 17 million transistors and an 8-thread CPU configuration running at up to 3.35 GHz via big.LITTLE architecture with HMP support. It comes with 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM clocked at 8,533 MHz and 512 GB of internal storage, with a maximum supported memory ceiling of 24 GB. Graphics are handled by the integrated Mali G715 Immortalis MP11 GPU running at 980 MHz, supporting DirectX 12 and OpenCL 2.0, while integrated LTE is also built into the SoC. The chipset is 64-bit capable, includes an 8 MB L3 cache, and has recorded an AnTuTu benchmark score of 1,524,110.

The Vivo V40 Pro features a triple rear camera system, each lens resolving at 50 MP with apertures of f/1.9, f/1.9, and f/2.0 respectively, supported by optical image stabilization and 2x optical zoom. The main camera uses a CMOS sensor without back-side illumination, and autofocus options include phase-detection and touch autofocus, though laser autofocus is absent. Video recording reaches 2160p at 30 fps, with slow-motion capture also supported, but HDR10 and Dolby Vision recording are not available. Manual controls cover exposure, ISO, focus, and white balance, while manual shutter speed is not included; shooting in RAW format is likewise unsupported. Additional shooting modes include burst, panorama, and timelapse, though 360-degree panorama and 3D capture are not offered. A single LED flash is present on the rear — no dual-tone or RGB flash — while the 50 MP front camera shoots at f/2.0 and has no flash, no secondary lens, and is not positioned under the display.

The Vivo V40 Pro runs Android 14 and includes a broad set of privacy controls, covering location access, camera and microphone permissions, clipboard warnings, and app tracking blocking, though cross-site tracking blocking and Mail Privacy Protection are not present. On the customization side, the OS supports dynamic and manual theme customization, dark mode, an extra dim mode, widgets, and customizable notifications, while focus modes and app offloading are not available. Productivity features include split-screen multitasking, picture-in-picture, full-page screenshots, a media picker, Live Text, sharing intents, and the ability to play games while they download. The system also supports on-device machine learning, offline voice recognition, voice commands, multi-user accounts, device tracking, a child lock, and a battery health check. Wi-Fi password sharing and Quick Start are not supported, and OS updates do not come directly from the vendor.

The Vivo V40 Pro houses a 5,500 mAh rechargeable battery that is non-removable and supports 80W wired fast charging, with a charger included in the box. Wireless charging is not available. The device features a battery level indicator, making it straightforward to monitor remaining charge at a glance.

The Vivo V40 Pro includes stereo speakers but omits a 3.5 mm headphone jack, so wired headphone use requires an adapter or Bluetooth. On the wireless audio side, the device does not support any high-quality Bluetooth codec — aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX Lossless, and LDAC are all absent. There is also no built-in radio.

The Vivo V40 Pro supports 5G cellular connectivity and accommodates two SIM cards, with wireless networking covering Wi-Fi 4 through Wi-Fi 7 (802.11n/ac/ax/be). Bluetooth 5.3 and NFC are both present, while external memory expansion is not available and there is no HDMI output. The USB Type-C port operates at USB 2.0 speeds. For biometrics, a fingerprint scanner is included, but 3D facial recognition and an iris scanner are absent; no stylus is bundled either. Satellite emergency SOS, crash detection, ANT+, a heart rate monitor, a barometer, an infrared sensor, and a built-in projector are all unsupported. On the sensor and positioning side, the device features GPS with Galileo support, a gyroscope, an accelerometer, and a compass, though motion tracking, optical tracking, and DLNA certification are not offered.

The Vivo V40 Pro features a curved display and includes a video light for use during video recording. The screen uses neither sapphire glass nor e-paper technology.
