Vivo V40 SE 5G

The Vivo V40 SE 5G carries an IP54 rating, providing resistance against dust ingress and water splashing from any direction. It measures 163.2 mm tall, 75.8 mm wide, and 7.8 mm thick, with a weight of 191 g and a total volume of 96.49 cm³, resulting in a slim and moderately lightweight form factor. The device is rated to operate in temperatures ranging from -20°C to 50°C, indicating a reasonably wide thermal tolerance for everyday use. It does not have a rugged build and cannot be folded.

The Vivo V40 SE 5G features a 6.67-inch OLED/AMOLED touchscreen with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels and a pixel density of 395 ppi, producing a sharp and vibrant image across the large panel. The display runs at a 120Hz refresh rate for smoother motion during scrolling and content playback, and an Always-On Display mode allows select information to remain visible without waking the full screen. HDR10, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision are not supported, there is no secondary screen, and the panel does not include branded damage-resistant glass.

The Vivo V40 SE 5G is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2, a 4 nm octa-core chipset configured with two performance cores at 2.3 GHz and six efficiency cores at 2.0 GHz, using big.LITTLE technology across 8 threads with a TDP of 4W. It is paired with 8 GB of DDR5 RAM at 3200 MHz and 256 GB of eMMC 5.1 internal storage, with a maximum supported memory of 16 GB and external memory expandable up to 1 TB. Graphics are managed by the Adreno 613 GPU running at 955 MHz, supporting DirectX 12, OpenGL ES 3.2, and OpenCL 2.0, with output across up to two displays. The chipset includes integrated LTE, integrated graphics, ARM TrustZone, and full 64-bit support, and the device posted an AnTuTu score of 456,552, a Geekbench 6 single-core result of 923, and a multi-core result of 2,236.

The OS supports dynamic and manual theme customization, dark mode, extra dim mode, customizable notifications, a media picker, widgets, split-screen multitasking, Picture-in-Picture, full-page screenshots, and Live Text for selecting text from images. On-device machine learning is included alongside offline voice recognition, voice commands, multi-user support, phone tracking, battery health checks, sharing intents, and child lock, as well as the ability to play games while they are downloading. Features not available include Wi-Fi password sharing, focus modes, app offloading, Quick Start, direct OS vendor updates, and the ability to function as a PC.

The Vivo V40 SE 5G houses a 5000 mAh rechargeable battery with support for 44W wired fast charging, and a charger is included in the box. An ultra power-saving mode is available to extend battery life when charge is running low, and a battery level indicator keeps the user informed of remaining capacity. The battery is non-removable and wireless charging is not supported.

The Vivo V40 SE 5G is equipped with stereo speakers for built-in audio output, but does not include a 3.5mm headphone jack, directing wired audio through other means. None of the high-resolution Bluetooth audio codecs are supported — aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX Lossless, and LDAC are all absent — and there is no built-in radio.

Onboard sensors include a gyroscope, accelerometer, compass, and GPS with Galileo support, but there is no barometer, heart rate monitor, infrared sensor, or ANT+ support. Crash detection, emergency SOS via satellite, DLNA certification, HDMI output, a stylus, and a built-in projector are all absent.

The Vivo V40 SE 5G includes a video light to assist with illumination during video recording. The display is flat rather than curved, and the device does not feature sapphire glass protection or an e-paper display.
