One notable aspect of its build is the IP64 rating, which means the device is protected against dust ingress and can handle water splashes from any direction, though it is not designed for submersion. It does not feature a rugged construction, nor does it fold, making it a conventional candy-bar form factor.

The Vivo Y28s 5G uses a 6.56″ IPS LCD touchscreen with a resolution of 720 x 1612 px, translating to a pixel density of 269 ppi. It supports a 90Hz refresh rate, which contributes to smoother on-screen motion during everyday use. The panel does not include branded damage-resistant glass, and there is no support for HDR10, HDR10+, or Dolby Vision, so color and contrast capabilities remain at a standard level. Always-On Display is also absent, and the device has no secondary screen.
