The Vivo Y29 features a 6.68″ IPS LCD touchscreen with a resolution of 720 x 1608 px and a pixel density of 264 ppi, paired with a 120Hz refresh rate for smoother on-screen motion and a typical brightness of 1000 nits for visibility in well-lit conditions. The panel does not include branded damage-resistant glass, and it lacks support for HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and Always-On Display functionality, while there is no secondary screen present.

The Vivo Y29 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset, built on a 6 nm process with an octa-core CPU running at 2 x 2.4 GHz and 6 x 2 GHz using big.LITTLE architecture with HMP support and 8 threads, complemented by an Arm Mali-G57 MC2 GPU clocked at 950 MHz with DirectX 12 support. On the usability side, it supports dark mode, dynamic and manual theme customization, customizable notifications with a media picker, full-page scrolling screenshots, split-screen multitasking, Picture-in-Picture, sharing intents, home screen widgets, a child lock, and multi-user support, while focus modes, app offloading, Wi-Fi password sharing, and Quick Start are not available. The software also includes on-device machine learning, offline voice recognition, voice commands, phone tracking, live text selection from images, battery health monitoring, an extra dim display mode, and the ability to play games while they are still downloading; however, direct OS updates from the vendor and PC desktop mode are not supported.

The Vivo Y29 is equipped with a 5500 mAh non-removable rechargeable battery that supports 44W fast charging, allowing for quicker top-ups over a wired connection; wireless charging and an ultra power-saving mode are not available. A battery level indicator is present, keeping the remaining charge visible at a glance.

The Vivo Y29 includes a 3.5 mm headphone jack and stereo speakers for wired listening and broader audio output, and it also features a built-in radio. On the wireless audio side, none of the advanced Bluetooth codecs — aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX Lossless, or LDAC — are supported.
