Xiaomi Redmi A3

The Xiaomi Redmi A3 measures 168.3mm tall, 76.3mm wide, and 8.3mm thick, with a total volume of 106.582707cm³ and a weight of 193g. It is a conventional, non-folding design with no rugged build certification and no water resistance of any kind.

The Redmi A3 features a 6.71″ IPS LCD touchscreen resolving at 720x1650 pixels with a pixel density of 268 ppi, running at a 90Hz refresh rate and a 180Hz touch sampling rate. The panel is protected by Gorilla Glass 3 and does not support HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, or Always-On Display functionality. There is no secondary screen.

The Redmi A3 is powered by the MediaTek Helio G36, a 12nm, 64-bit octa-core chipset using big.LITTLE technology — four cores at 2.2GHz and four at 1.8GHz — with 8 threads and multithreading support. Graphics are handled by the integrated PowerVR GE8320, clocked at 650MHz with a turbo of 680MHz, supporting DirectX 12 and OpenGL ES 3.2. The phone ships with 6GB of DDR4 RAM running at 1,600MHz across two channels, with a maximum memory bandwidth of 13.9 GB/s and a platform ceiling of 8GB; storage is 128GB over eMMC 5.1. LTE is integrated into the SoC, and security is covered by the NX bit and ARM TrustZone. In benchmarks, the chipset scores 229 in Geekbench 6 single-core, 842 multi-core, 127,000 on AnTuTu, and achieves a PCMark Work 3.0 battery endurance of 534 minutes alongside a performance score of 4,708.

The main camera is a single-lens 8MP CMOS sensor with an f/2.0 aperture, phase-detection autofocus, touch autofocus, and continuous autofocus during video recording; optical image stabilization, laser autofocus, and a back-illuminated sensor are not present. It records video at 1080p and 30fps, supports slow-motion recording, and includes a two-LED flash, though the flash is not dual-tone or RGB. Manual controls cover ISO, exposure, focus, and white balance, while manual shutter speed and RAW shooting are not available; additional shooting modes include HDR, burst, panorama, and timelapse. There is no optical zoom. The 5MP front camera is a single-lens unit without a front-facing flash or under-display placement, and neither HDR10 recording nor Dolby Vision recording is supported on either camera.

The Redmi A3 runs Android 14, an open-source platform that supports multi-user profiles, split-screen multitasking, Picture-in-Picture, widgets, and customizable notifications. Privacy tools include location controls, camera and microphone access management, clipboard warnings, and app tracking blocking, though cross-site tracking blocking and Mail Privacy Protection are absent. On the personalisation side, the OS offers dynamic theming, theme customization, dark mode, and an extra dim mode, while focus modes and app offloading are not available. Additional capabilities cover on-device machine learning, offline voice recognition, voice commands, full-page scrolling screenshots, a media picker, Live Text, sharing intents, child lock, battery health check, phone tracking, and the ability to play games while they are still downloading. Direct OS updates from the vendor and Wi-Fi password sharing are not supported, and the device cannot be used as a PC via Quick Start.

The Redmi A3 is equipped with a 5000mAh rechargeable battery that supports fast charging at 10W; a charger is included in the box. The battery is not removable and wireless charging is not supported. A battery level indicator is present, and the PCMark Work 3.0 battery benchmark records an endurance result of 534 minutes.

The Redmi A3 includes a 3.5mm headset jack and a built-in FM radio, but lacks stereo speakers, outputting audio through a single channel instead. On the wireless audio side, none of the advanced Bluetooth codecs are supported — there is no aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX Lossless, or LDAC.

The Redmi A3 supports dual SIM cards, Wi-Fi 5 and Wi-Fi 4, and Bluetooth 5.4, though 5G, NFC, and DLNA are absent. Wired connectivity is handled via a USB Type-C port running on USB 2.0, with maximum download and upload speeds of 300 Mbits/s and 150 Mbits/s respectively. Location is covered by GPS with Galileo support, and the phone includes an accelerometer and a fingerprint scanner; however, there is no gyroscope, compass, barometer, infrared sensor, 3D facial recognition, or iris scanner. An external memory card slot is available for storage expansion. Safety features such as crash detection and emergency SOS via satellite are not present, and no stylus, HDMI output, or built-in projector is included.

The Redmi A3 includes a video light for use during video recording. The display is flat rather than curved, uses standard glass rather than sapphire, and is not an e-paper panel.
