ZTE Nubia Flip 5G

The ZTE Nubia Flip 5G features a foldable design that measures 76 mm wide, 170 mm tall, and 7.3 mm thick when unfolded, with a total volume of 94.316 cm³ and a weight of 214 g. The device does not have a rugged build and carries no water resistance rating.

The main display is a 6.9″ OLED/AMOLED touchscreen with a 1188 x 2790 pixel resolution at 439 ppi and a 120Hz refresh rate. A secondary 466 x 466 pixel screen is present on the outer cover for use when the device is folded. The display does not support HDR10, HDR10+, or Dolby Vision, and there is no Always-On Display mode or branded damage-resistant glass.

The device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1, built on a 4 nm process with an octa-core CPU configuration running at up to 2.4 GHz across 8 threads using big.LITTLE technology. It is paired with 12GB of DDR5 RAM at 3200 MHz and 512GB of internal storage, with a maximum supported memory amount of 16GB. Graphics are handled by the integrated Adreno 644 GPU clocked at 600 MHz, with support for DirectX 12 and OpenGL ES 3.2. The chipset includes integrated LTE, supports 64-bit processing, multithreading, and ARM TrustZone for hardware-level security.

The rear camera system uses a dual-lens setup with 50MP and 2MP sensors on a CMOS base, capable of recording video at up to 2160p at 30fps. Autofocus options include phase-detection and touch autofocus as well as continuous autofocus during video recording, though laser autofocus is not available. Manual controls cover ISO, focus, exposure, and white balance, while optical zoom is not present and optical image stabilization is not supported. Shooting modes include HDR, burst, slow-motion, panorama, and timelapse, but RAW capture, HDR10 recording, Dolby Vision recording, and 360-degree panorama are not supported. A single LED flash is included, with no dual-tone or RGB flash option. The 16MP front camera is a single-lens unit without an LED flash and is not positioned under the display.

The device runs Android 13 and includes a broad set of privacy controls, covering clipboard warnings, location privacy options, camera and microphone access management, and app tracking blocking, though cross-site tracking blocking and Mail Privacy Protection are not available. On the usability side, it supports dark mode, extra dim mode, dynamic theming, theme customization, customizable notifications, notification permissions, widgets, split screen, Picture-in-Picture, full-page screenshots, Live Text, a media picker, sharing intents, and the ability to play games while they download. Offline voice recognition and voice commands are both supported, as are multi-user accounts, phone tracking, and on-device machine learning. Features not present include focus modes, battery health check, Wi-Fi password sharing, app offloading, Quick Start, and the ability to use the device as a PC. OS updates do not come directly from the vendor.

The device is powered by a non-removable 4310 mAh rechargeable battery with a battery level indicator included. It supports 33W wired fast charging, and a charger is included in the box. Wireless charging is not supported.

The device includes stereo speakers but does not have a 3.5mm headset jack or an FM radio. None of the high-quality Bluetooth audio codecs are supported — aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX Lossless, and LDAC are all absent.

The device supports 5G connectivity with a maximum download speed of 550 Mbits/s and accommodates one physical SIM alongside one eSIM. Wireless options include Wi-Fi 4, Wi-Fi 5, and Wi-Fi 6, along with Bluetooth 5.2 and NFC. A USB Type-C port is present, though there is no HDMI output and no external memory slot. Onboard sensors include a gyroscope, accelerometer, compass, and GPS with Galileo support, while a fingerprint scanner handles biometric authentication — 3D facial recognition and an iris scanner are not available. Features absent from this device include ANT+, a heart rate monitor, a barometer, an infrared sensor, crash detection, satellite SOS, DLNA certification, a stylus, and a built-in projector.

The device includes a video light for use during video recording. The display is flat rather than curved, and the device does not use sapphire glass or an e-paper display.
