ZTE Nubia Red Magic 9S Pro Plus

The ZTE Nubia Red Magic 9S Pro Plus measures 164 x 76.4 x 8.9 mm and weighs 229g, giving it a solid, full-size footprint with a total volume of 111.51cm³. It is a standard flat-form device — neither foldable nor built to a rugged specification — and carries no water resistance rating.

The Red Magic 9S Pro Plus features a 6.8″ OLED/AMOLED touchscreen with a 1116 x 2480 px resolution and a pixel density of 400 ppi, backed by a typical brightness of 1600 nits and a 120Hz refresh rate. The panel supports an Always-On Display mode and is protected by Gorilla Glass 5, while the 2000Hz touch sampling rate enables highly responsive input. HDR10, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision are not supported, and there is no secondary screen.

The Red Magic 9S Pro Plus is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 — a 4nm, 64-bit octa-core SoC with a clock configuration of 1 x 3.4, 3 x 3.2, 2 x 3.0, and 2 x 2.3 GHz across 8 threads, using big.LITTLE architecture with HMP and a TDP of 12.5W. It is paired with 24GB of LPDDR5 RAM running at 4800 MHz across 2 memory channels, delivering a maximum bandwidth of 76.6 GB/s, alongside 1024GB of internal storage. The Adreno 750 GPU runs at 900 MHz with 3 execution units, supports DirectX 12, OpenGL 3.2, OpenGL ES 3.2, OpenCL 2, and OpenVG 1.2, and drives a single display. Cache consists of 1MB L2 and 12MB L3, while benchmark results include an AnTuTu score of 2,369,100, a Geekbench 6 single-core score of 2,213, and a multi-core score of 7,325. The chipset integrates LTE and graphics, supports multithreading, TrustZone security, and eMMC 5.1.

The rear camera system on the Red Magic 9S Pro Plus uses a triple-lens arrangement with sensors at 50MP, 50MP, and 2MP, built around a CMOS sensor with optical image stabilization and phase-detection autofocus for stills, plus continuous autofocus during video recording. It supports 8K video recording at 30fps, slow-motion capture, timelapse, HDR, burst mode, and in-camera panoramas, while manual controls cover exposure, ISO, focus, and white balance — though manual shutter speed and RAW output are not available. Two flash LEDs are present, but there is no laser autofocus, no RGB flash, and no 360° panorama mode, and the system does not support HDR10 or Dolby Vision recording. The Red Magic 9S Pro Plus runs Android 14 and includes a broad set of privacy controls spanning clipboard warnings, location access management, and camera/microphone permissions, though Mail Privacy Protection and cross-site tracking blocking are absent. On the customization side, it supports dark mode, dynamic theming, theme customization, widgets, and customizable notifications, while focus modes and app offloading are not available. Productivity features include split-screen multitasking, Picture-in-Picture, full-page screenshots, Live Text, sharing intents, a media picker, and the ability to play games while they download. The OS also supports on-device machine learning, offline voice recognition, voice commands, multi-user accounts, a child lock, battery health checks, an extra dim mode, and device position tracking. Direct OS updates from the vendor are not provided, and Quick Start and Wi-Fi password sharing are not supported.

The Red Magic 9S Pro Plus houses a 5500 mAh rechargeable battery that is non-removable and supports 165W wired fast charging, with a compatible charger included in the box. Wireless charging is not available. The device features a battery level indicator, making it straightforward to monitor remaining charge at a glance.

The Red Magic 9S Pro Plus includes a 3.5mm headphone jack and stereo speakers for audio output. On the wireless audio side, none of the advanced Bluetooth codec options — aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX Lossless, or LDAC — are supported, and there is no built-in radio.

The Red Magic 9S Pro Plus supports 5G cellular connectivity and accommodates two SIM cards, with download speeds up to 10,000 Mbits/s and upload speeds up to 3,500 Mbits/s. Wi-Fi coverage spans from Wi-Fi 4 through Wi-Fi 7 (802.11n/ac/ax/be), including Wi-Fi 6E, and the device also features NFC and a USB Type-C port running at USB 3.2. Onboard sensors include a gyroscope, accelerometer, compass, GPS with Galileo support, infrared sensor, and a fingerprint scanner, while a barometer, heart rate monitor, ANT+, and motion or optical tracking are absent. There is no HDMI output, no external memory slot, no 3D facial recognition, no iris scanner, no stylus, no DLNA certification, no crash detection, and no emergency satellite SOS.

The Red Magic 9S Pro Plus includes a video light, while the display is flat rather than curved and uses neither sapphire glass nor an e-paper panel.
