ZTE Nubia Red Magic 9S Pro

The ZTE Nubia Red Magic 9S Pro has a fixed, non-folding form factor standing 164 mm tall, 76.4 mm wide, and 8.9 mm thick, with a total volume of 111.51 cm³ and a weight of 229 g. It does not feature a rugged build and carries no water resistance rating, so it offers no certified protection against moisture or dust. The device operates within a temperature range of 0 °C to 54 °C, and its non-folding design means the physical dimensions remain constant during use.

The Red Magic 9S Pro uses an OLED/AMOLED touch screen measuring 6.8″ with a resolution of 1116 x 2480 px and a pixel density of 400 ppi, paired with a 120Hz refresh rate for smooth on-screen motion. The display is protected by Gorilla Glass 5 and supports an Always-On Display mode, while a secondary screen is not present. HDR10, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision are not supported on this panel.

The Red Magic 9S Pro is driven by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 system-on-chip, built on a 4 nm process with an 8-thread CPU configuration running at speeds of up to 3.4 GHz across its big.LITTLE cluster arrangement, with HMP support and a TDP of 12.5W. Graphics are handled by the Adreno 750 GPU clocked at 900 MHz, featuring 3 execution units, integrated graphics, and support for DirectX 12, OpenGL 3.2, OpenGL ES 3.2, and OpenCL 2, with output to a single display. The device ships with 12GB of DDR5 RAM running at 4800 MHz across 2 memory channels, a maximum memory ceiling of 24GB, and 512GB of internal storage, backed by 1 MB of L2 cache and 12 MB of L3 cache, a maximum memory bandwidth of 76.6 GB/s, and eMMC 5.1. Benchmark results include an AnTuTu score of 2,369,542 and Geekbench 6 scores of 7325 multi-core and 2213 single-core, with the chipset also integrating LTE, TrustZone security, multithreading, and 64-bit support.

The Red Magic 9S Pro features a multi-lens rear camera system with three sensors rated at 50, 50, and 2 megapixels, supported by a CMOS sensor, optical image stabilization, phase-detection autofocus, touch autofocus, and continuous autofocus during video recording, though laser autofocus is not included. Main camera video recording reaches up to 4320p at 30 fps, with additional support for slow-motion recording, while HDR10 and Dolby Vision recording are not available. Two flash LEDs are present on the rear, and manual controls extend to exposure, ISO, focus, and white balance, though manual shutter speed and RAW capture are not supported; shooting modes include burst, panorama, and timelapse, but 360-degree panorama and 3D recording are absent. On the front, a single-lens 16-megapixel camera sits at a wide aperture of f/2 without an under-display placement, a front-facing flash, or HDR10/Dolby Vision recording support.

The Red Magic 9S Pro runs Android 14 and includes a broad set of privacy controls, among them clipboard warnings, location privacy options, camera and microphone access management, and the ability to block app tracking, though cross-site tracking blocking and Mail Privacy Protection are not present. Customization options cover theme customization, dynamic theming, dark mode, and an extra dim mode, while focus modes and app offloading are not supported. The OS accommodates multi-user setups, supports widgets, sharing intents, a child lock, Picture-in-Picture, split-screen multitasking, full-page screenshots, a media picker, and the ability to play games while they are still downloading. On-device machine learning is available alongside offline voice recognition, voice commands, and device position tracking, and the system offers battery health checks and customizable notifications; however, Wi-Fi password sharing, Quick Start, direct OS vendor updates, and the ability to function as a PC are not included.

The Red Magic 9S Pro is equipped with a 6500 mAh rechargeable, non-removable battery that supports 80W wired fast charging, with a charger included in the box. Wireless charging is not available. A battery level indicator is present, giving users a straightforward way to monitor remaining charge at a glance.

The Red Magic 9S Pro includes a 3.5 mm headphone jack and stereo speakers for wired and built-in audio output. On the wireless audio side, aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX Lossless, and LDAC are all absent, meaning high-resolution Bluetooth audio codecs are not supported. There is also no built-in radio tuner.

The Red Magic 9S Pro supports 5G cellular connectivity alongside a dual-SIM configuration and is compatible with Wi-Fi 4, 5, 6, 6E, and 7, covering a wide range of wireless networking standards. The USB Type-C port operates at USB 3.2, and the device also includes NFC, with download and upload speeds reaching up to 10,000 Mbits/s and 3,500 Mbits/s respectively. For navigation and sensing, GPS with Galileo support is present alongside a gyroscope, accelerometer, compass, and infrared sensor, while a fingerprint scanner handles biometric authentication; 3D facial recognition and an iris scanner are not available. Crash detection, emergency SOS via satellite, a barometer, heart rate monitor, ANT+, HDMI output, DLNA certification, motion tracking, optical tracking, a built-in projector, a stylus, and an external memory slot are all absent from this device.

The Red Magic 9S Pro includes a video light, while its display is flat rather than curved and uses neither sapphire glass nor an e-paper panel.
