ZTE Nubia Z70 Ultra

The ZTE Nubia Z70 Ultra has a non-folding, non-rugged design that measures 164.3 mm tall, 77.1 mm wide, and 8.6 mm thick, with a total volume of roughly 108.94 cm³ and a weight of 228 g. A notable design highlight is its IP69 ingress protection rating, which classifies the device as waterproof and capable of withstanding high-pressure water exposure.

The Nubia Z70 Ultra uses an OLED/AMOLED touchscreen measuring 6.85″ with a resolution of 1216 x 2688 px and a pixel density of 400 ppi. The panel runs at a 144Hz refresh rate and supports a 2500Hz touch sampling rate, while typical brightness reaches 1500 nits. It supports both HDR10 and HDR10+, features an Always-On Display mode, but does not support Dolby Vision and lacks branded damage-resistant glass. There is no secondary screen, and Dolby Vision playback is not available.

The Nubia Z70 Ultra is driven by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, built on a 3 nm process with an 8-thread CPU running at up to 4.32 GHz on its two performance cores and 3.53 GHz across its six efficiency cores, supported by big.LITTLE and HMP technologies. It carries 24GB of DDR5 RAM running at 5300 MHz with a maximum memory bandwidth of 85.1 GB/s across two channels, alongside 1024GB of internal storage. The Adreno 830 GPU clocks at 1100 MHz with 1536 shading units and supports up to two displays, DirectX 12, OpenGL 3.2, OpenGL ES 3.2, and OpenCL 3. Cache configuration includes 192 KB of L1, 12 MB of L2, and 8 MB of L3, while ECC memory support and TrustZone are both present. The chipset has a TDP of 8.2W and includes integrated LTE. Benchmark results show an AnTuTu score of 2,710,000, Geekbench 6 single-core and multi-core scores of 3,234 and 10,059 respectively, a PCMark Work 3.0 performance score of 24,225 with a battery endurance result of 548 minutes, and a 3DMark Steel Nomad score of 2,161.

The Nubia Z70 Ultra features a triple rear camera system with sensors resolving 64MP, 50MP, and 50MP at apertures of f/1.6, f/2.5, and f/2.0 respectively, backed by optical image stabilization, a CMOS sensor, phase-detection autofocus, continuous autofocus during video, and touch autofocus. The main camera supports 3.3x optical zoom and can record video at up to 4320 x 30 fps, with slow-motion recording also available. Shooting options are extensive, covering HDR, burst mode, panorama, timelapse, and a full manual suite including adjustable exposure, ISO, shutter speed, white balance, and focus, though RAW capture and 360-degree panorama are not supported. The flash setup consists of four LEDs in a dual-tone configuration, while RGB flash is absent. On the front, a 16MP under-display single-lens camera handles selfies without a dedicated flash, and 3D photo or video recording is not available.

The Nubia Z70 Ultra runs Android 15, a free and open-source platform that supports multi-user operation, split-screen multitasking, Picture-in-Picture, widgets, and the ability to play games while they are still downloading. Privacy controls are broad, covering clipboard warnings, location access management, and camera/microphone permissions, though Mail Privacy Protection and cross-site tracking blocking are absent. Customization options include theme customization, dynamic theming, dark mode, and an extra dim mode, while notifications are fully configurable with granular permission controls. The OS also offers on-device machine learning, offline voice recognition, voice commands, Live Text, full-page screenshots, a media picker, app offloading, sharing intents, a child lock, battery health monitoring, and device tracking. Direct OS updates from the vendor are not available, and neither Wi-Fi password sharing, focus modes, nor a Quick Start feature are present.

The Nubia Z70 Ultra is equipped with a 6150 mAh rechargeable, non-removable battery that supports 80W fast wired charging, with a charger included in the box. Wireless charging is not available. A battery level indicator is present, giving users a clear read on remaining charge at a glance.

The Nubia Z70 Ultra features stereo speakers and three microphones, but omits a 3.5 mm headphone jack and does not include a radio. For wireless audio, it supports a thorough suite of Bluetooth codecs: aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, and aptX Lossless, though LDAC is not available.

The Nubia Z70 Ultra supports 5G cellular connectivity with download speeds up to 10,000 Mbits/s and upload speeds up to 3,500 Mbits/s, and accommodates two SIM cards. Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) is supported alongside Wi-Fi 4, 5, 6, and 6E, while Bluetooth 5.3 and NFC are also on board. The USB Type-C port runs at USB 3.2, though there is no HDMI output and no external memory slot. Sensors include a gyroscope, accelerometer, compass, GPS with Galileo support, an infrared sensor, and a fingerprint scanner. Features such as a heart rate monitor, barometer, ANT+ support, crash detection, satellite SOS, DLNA certification, iris scanner, 3D facial recognition, motion tracking, optical tracking, and a built-in projector are all absent, and no stylus is included.

The Nubia Z70 Ultra includes a video light for recording in low-light conditions, while its display is flat rather than curved and uses neither sapphire glass nor an e-paper panel.
