The Epomaker HE80 is a tenkeyless (80%) mechanical gaming keyboard with a standard profile, connecting to a host system via USB in a wired configuration. It features a gasket mount design and operates at a polling rate of 8000 Hz, with a detachable cable for easier transport and cable management. The board measures 332 mm wide, 146 mm deep, and 42 mm thick, weighing 830 g, and is not designed specifically for Mac. It carries a one-year warranty.
The HE80 features a plastic case with an FR4 plate, available in black, and includes a backlit layout with south-facing RGB lighting. The board comes with adjustable feet to modify the typing angle, though no wrist rest is included in the package.
The HE80 is equipped with the Epomaker MagneX Switch, a linear Hall effect switch with a light actuation force of 30 g and a total travel distance of 3.4 mm. The actuation point is adjustable anywhere between 0.1 mm and 3.4 mm, which is a direct result of the magnetic Hall effect mechanism rather than a traditional physical contact point. The switches are hot-swappable, allowing them to be replaced without soldering.
The HE80 supports rapid trigger, dual actuation, and adjustable actuation, all of which are enabled by its Hall effect switch design and give users fine-grained control over how and when keypresses register. Analog input and full N-key rollover (NKRO) are also included, ensuring simultaneous keypress detection without conflicts. The board does not feature USB passthrough, an onboard display, or support for QMK, ZMK, or VIA firmware customization.
The HE80 uses an ANSI (United States) layout with a standard key arrangement, and comes fitted with PBT double-shot keycaps in a Cherry profile, known for their durability and consistent legends. Media functions are accessible through the Fn key rather than dedicated keys, and the board does not include a rotary dial.
