A lens hood is included in the box, and the camera does not have a tilting viewfinder or function as a system camera.
The GFX100RF is built around a 102 MP medium format BSI CMOS sensor (non-stacked) with a native maximum ISO of 12800, expandable up to 102400. The fixed lens has a focal length of 28 mm and a maximum aperture of f/4, closing down to f/22, with nine rounded aperture blades and a minimum focus distance of 0.2 m; it can also focus to infinity. Autofocus relies on a 425-point phase-detection system with AF tracking and touch AF support, while manual focus, manual exposure, manual ISO, and manual white balance are all available. The mechanical shutter reaches 1/4000 s (0.00025 s) and the electronic shutter goes up to 1/16000 s (6.25E-5 s), with exposure times extending to 30 s at the long end; burst shooting tops out at 6 fps and the camera powers on in 0.6 s. A two-stage shutter, built-in HDR mode, and serial shot mode are included, while optical image stabilization, sensor-shift stabilization, and in-camera panorama creation are not supported.
The GFX100RF records video at up to 2160p (4K) at 30 fps with a maximum bitrate of 720 Mbps, and a 24p cinema mode is also available. Phase-detection autofocus and continuous autofocus are both supported during video recording. Audio is handled by two built-in stereo microphones, and a 3.5 mm jack is present for both an external microphone input and headset connection. A timelapse function is included, while slow-motion video recording is not supported.
The GFX100RF is powered by a removable, rechargeable 2200 mAh battery rated for up to 820 shots per charge according to CIPA standards. A battery level indicator is on board to keep track of remaining power during use.
The GFX100RF runs on the X-Processor 5 and offers a broad set of connectivity features, including Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) and Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n), Bluetooth 4.2, HDMI output, and USB Type-C. Dual card slots and an external memory slot are provided for storage flexibility, and the camera supports remote smartphone control as well as RAW file capture. An advanced hot shoe, NFC, GPS, and first-party live streaming support are not included.
