The Gigabyte X870E Aorus Xtreme X3D AI Top is built around the AM5 socket and is compatible with the X870 chipset, housed in an E-ATX form factor measuring 305 mm × 285 mm. It supports a single CPU and has no integrated processor or integrated graphics. The board includes Wi-Fi across multiple generations — from Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n) through to Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) — along with Bluetooth 5.4, though aptX is not supported. An HDMI 2.1 output is present for display connectivity. Overclocking is supported with an easy-to-use implementation, and resetting the BIOS is straightforward via a clear CMOS feature, though a dual BIOS setup is not included. RGB lighting is onboard, and the board comes with a 3-year warranty.
This motherboard supports DDR5 memory across four slots in a dual-channel configuration, with a maximum capacity of 256 GB. Native RAM speeds reach up to 5200 MHz, while overclocking can push that figure to 9000 MHz. ECC memory is not supported.
The rear I/O panel offers a substantial USB lineup, led by eight USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port, and one USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Type-C port. At the higher end, there are two USB 4 40Gbps ports and two Thunderbolt 4 ports, while USB 4 20Gbps, USB 3.2 Gen 1, and USB 2.0 ports are absent. Display output is handled solely by a single HDMI connection, with no DisplayPort, DVI, or VGA outputs present. Network connectivity is covered by two RJ45 ports, and there are no eSATA or PS/2 ports included.
For internal expansion, the board provides four USB 3.2 Gen 1 headers and four USB 2.0 headers, along with one USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 connector and one USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 connector; there are no USB 3.2 Gen 2 headers available. Storage connectivity includes five M.2 sockets and two SATA 3 connectors, while SATA 2, U.2, and mSATA connections are not present. Cooling is handled through six fan headers, and there is no TPM connector on board.
The board offers three PCIe slots in total: one PCIe 5.0 x16 slot for the primary graphics card or other full-bandwidth add-in cards, one PCIe x8 slot, and one PCIe x4 slot. There are no PCIe 4.0, 3.0, or 2.0 x16 slots, and no PCIe x1 or legacy PCI slots are present.
The onboard audio supports 8 channels and delivers a signal-to-noise ratio of 120 dB from the DAC, with two audio connectors available on the rear panel. An S/PDIF Out port is not included.
The board supports RAID 0, 1, 5, and 10 (1+0) configurations, covering a broad range of performance and redundancy setups. RAID 0+1 is not supported.
