The Haylou HQ5 uses an in-ear fit and is a true wireless design, meaning there are no cables or neckband involved. Each earbud weighs 8 g and features stereo speakers, while the absence of wingtips, RGB lighting, a display, and UV light keeps the form factor straightforward. For durability during physical activity, the earbuds carry an IPX4 rating, making them resistant to sweat though not suited for submersion in water.
The Haylou HQ5 is equipped with a 10 mm driver unit and covers a frequency range of 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz. It supports both active noise cancellation and passive noise reduction, offering two layers of isolation from ambient sound. The earbuds do not include spatial audio, Dolby Atmos, Dirac Virtuo, or a neodymium magnet.
The Haylou HQ5 earbuds carry a 30 mAh rechargeable battery that provides up to 6 hours of playback on a single charge, with the 320 mAh charging case adding another 16 hours of total battery life. A full charge takes 2 hours, and a battery level indicator is included so users can monitor remaining power. The earbuds do not support wireless charging or solar charging.
The Haylou HQ5 connects wirelessly via Bluetooth 6 with a maximum range of 10 m and supports the AAC codec for audio transmission. USB Type-C is present for wired charging, though the earbuds do not support fast pairing or NFC pairing. On the codec side, LDAC, LDHC, aptX and all its variants, Bluetooth LE Audio, and Auracast are not supported.
The Haylou HQ5 includes ambient sound mode, a mute function, voice prompts, and can be used as a headset, with controls accessible through a device-based control panel rather than an in-line panel. Fast charging is supported, and a travel bag is included in the package. The earbuds do not offer in/on-ear detection, a find device feature, notification reading, a body temperature sensor, or a built-in camera remote.
The Haylou HQ5 features a 4-microphone array with noise cancellation, making it suitable for voice calls and headset use in environments where background noise may be a factor.
