Lava Shark 5G

The Lava Shark 5G has a standard, non-folding slate form factor measuring 165.8 mm tall, 77.2 mm wide, and 8.5 mm thick, with a total weight of 200 g. It carries an IP54 ingress protection rating, classifying it as water resistant against splashes and dust, though it does not feature a fully rugged build.

The Lava Shark 5G features a 6.75″ IPS LCD touchscreen with a resolution of 720 x 1612 px and a pixel density of 269 ppi, paired with a 90Hz refresh rate for smoother on-screen motion. The display does not support HDR10, HDR10+, or Dolby Vision, and there is no Always-On Display mode or secondary screen. It also lacks branded damage-resistant glass protection.

The Lava Shark 5G is powered by the Unisoc T765 chipset, built on a 6 nm process and configured with an octa-core CPU running at 2 x 2.3 GHz and 6 x 2.1 GHz using big.LITTLE technology, alongside a Mali G57 MC2 GPU clocked at 850 MHz with integrated graphics. The SoC includes integrated LTE and supports 64-bit processing. It comes with 4 GB of DDR4 RAM running at 2133 MHz — expandable up to a maximum of 10 GB — and 64 GB of internal storage.

The Lava Shark 5G has a single-lens 13 MP rear camera with a CMOS sensor, supported by a single LED flash, and is capable of recording full HD video at 1080p and 30 fps with continuous autofocus during recording. It offers phase-detection autofocus and touch autofocus for stills, along with a solid set of manual controls including exposure, ISO, focus, and white balance, though manual shutter speed is not available. Additional shooting modes include HDR, burst mode, panorama, slow-motion video, and timelapse, while optical zoom, optical image stabilization, a BSI sensor, laser autofocus, and RAW capture are absent. On the front, a 5 MP single-lens camera handles selfies without a dedicated flash, and it does not sit under the display. Neither HDR10 nor Dolby Vision recording is supported on either camera.

The Lava Shark 5G ships with Android 15 out of the box and supports voice commands, though it does not receive direct OS updates from the vendor and cannot be used as a PC.

The Lava Shark 5G is equipped with a 5000 mAh rechargeable, non-removable battery that supports 18W fast charging, and a charger is included in the box. A battery level indicator is present, while wireless charging is not supported.

The Lava Shark 5G includes a 3.5 mm headphone jack and a built-in radio, offering a couple of straightforward audio options. It does not have stereo speakers, and none of the advanced Bluetooth audio codecs — aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX Lossless, or LDAC — are supported.

The Lava Shark 5G supports 5G connectivity alongside Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n) and Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac), Bluetooth 5.0, and a cellular module, with dual SIM card support and a USB Type-C port for wired connections. For location, it includes GPS with Galileo support, and on the sensor side there is an accelerometer and a fingerprint scanner, while a gyroscope, compass, and barometer are absent. The device has an external memory slot for storage expansion, but does not offer NFC, HDMI output, an infrared sensor, ANT+, or DLNA certification. Security features such as 3D facial recognition and an iris scanner are not present, and there is no crash detection, satellite SOS, heart rate monitor, motion tracking, or built-in projector.

The Lava Shark 5G includes a video light for recording in low-light conditions, while its display is flat and standard — there is no curved panel, sapphire glass protection, or e-paper screen.
