The Moondrop Pill adopts an open-ear fit and operates as a fully true wireless design with no cables or neckband involved. It delivers stereo sound without any RGB lighting or display on the unit itself, keeping the form factor straightforward. For protection, it carries an IPX4 rating, making it resistant to sweat — a practical consideration for light activity use — though wingtips are not included to secure the fit during more vigorous movement.
The Moondrop Pill uses a 13 mm driver unit and covers a frequency range of 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz, spanning the standard audible spectrum. It does not include active noise cancellation or passive noise isolation, which is consistent with its open-ear design. Spatial audio formats such as Dolby Atmos and Dirac Virtuo are not supported, and the driver does not feature a neodymium magnet.
The Moondrop Pill is equipped with a rechargeable 40 mAh battery offering 8 hours of playback per charge, while the 300 mAh charging case contributes an additional 20 hours, bringing the combined total to 28 hours. A full charge takes 1.5 hours, and a battery level indicator is present to help track remaining power. Wireless charging and solar charging are not supported.
The Moondrop Pill connects wirelessly via Bluetooth 6 with a maximum range of 10 m, and AAC is the sole supported audio codec — higher-tier options such as LDAC, LDHC, aptX and its variants, and Bluetooth LE Audio are not available. Audio latency is quoted at 55 ms. Fast pairing and NFC pairing are not supported, nor is Auracast. For wired charging, the unit uses a USB Type-C connection.
The Moondrop Pill supports fast charging and can function as a headset, with a mute function available for managing calls. Controls are handled through a panel placed directly on the device rather than an inline remote, and voice prompts are present to provide audio feedback. A travel bag is included in the box. The earbuds do not offer ambient sound mode, in-ear detection, a find-device feature, notification readout, a built-in translator, a temperature sensor, or a camera remote shutter function.
The Moondrop Pill includes a noise-canceling microphone, which works to reduce unwanted background sound during calls and voice communication.
