The MSI MPG B850I Edge TI Wi-Fi is built around the AM5 socket with B850 chipset compatibility, housed in a compact Mini-ITX form factor measuring 170 mm × 170 mm. Wireless connectivity spans Wi-Fi 4 through Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be), complemented by Bluetooth 5.4, though aptX audio codec support is not included. The board features HDMI 2.1 output, RGB lighting, dual BIOS, easy BIOS reset, and overclock-friendly design, while integrated graphics and an integrated CPU are absent. There is a single CPU socket, no support for ECC or integrated processing, and the board carries a 3-year warranty.
This board supports DDR5 memory across two slots in a dual-channel configuration, with a maximum capacity of 128 GB. Native RAM speeds top out at 5600 MHz, while overclocked profiles can reach up to 10000 MHz for users pushing memory performance further. ECC memory is not supported.
The rear I/O provides three USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports and two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, alongside one USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Type-C port for high-speed peripheral connections. Video output is handled by a single HDMI port, while DisplayPort, DVI, and VGA outputs are absent. Networking is covered by one RJ45 port, and there are no USB 4, Thunderbolt, eSATA, or PS/2 ports present.
Internal connectivity includes two M.2 sockets and two SATA 3 connectors for storage, while SATA 2, U.2, and mSATA options are not available. For expansion, the board offers two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, two USB 3.0 ports, one USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 port, and two USB 2.0 ports — all accessible through headers. Cooling is supported by three fan headers, and there is no TPM connector present.
Expansion is limited to a single PCIe 5.0 x16 slot, which serves as the sole option for add-in cards on this Mini-ITX board. There are no PCIe 4.0, 3.0, or 2.0 x16 slots, and no PCIe x1, x4, or x8 slots are present. Legacy PCI slots are also absent.
The onboard audio supports 7.1-channel output with a DAC signal-to-noise ratio of 120 dB, offering reasonably clean analog output for a motherboard solution. Two audio connectors are available on the rear panel, and an S/PDIF Out port is included for digital audio passthrough to external receivers or DACs.
RAID support is limited to RAID 0 and RAID 1, covering basic striping and mirroring configurations respectively. RAID 5, RAID 10, and RAID 0+1 are not supported on this board.
