The MSI Pro B850-VC Wi-Fi is built around the AM5 CPU socket with a single CPU socket configuration and B850 chipset compatibility, housed in a standard ATX form factor measuring 304.8 mm wide and 243.8 mm tall. Wireless connectivity spans Wi-Fi 4 through Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be), and Bluetooth 5.4 is also included, though aptX audio codec support is not available. Video output is handled through an HDMI 2.1 port, while integrated graphics and an integrated CPU are both absent, meaning a discrete processor and GPU are required. The board supports easy overclocking and includes both a dual BIOS setup and a straightforward BIOS reset option for added convenience. RGB lighting is not featured, and the board carries a 3-year warranty.
The board supports DDR5 memory across four slots in a dual-channel configuration, with a maximum supported capacity of 256GB. Standard operating speeds reach up to 5600 MHz, while overclocked configurations can push that figure to 8200 MHz. ECC memory is not supported.
The rear I/O panel provides a total of eight USB ports: one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A, one USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C, and four USB 2.0 ports. There are no USB 3.2 Gen 2x2, USB 4, Thunderbolt 3, or Thunderbolt 4 ports present. Video output is limited to a single HDMI output, with no DisplayPort, DVI, or VGA connectors available. Networking is covered by one RJ45 port, and there are no eSATA or PS/2 ports included.
Internal connectivity includes three M.2 sockets and four SATA 3 connectors for storage, while SATA 2 and U.2 sockets are absent, and there is no mSATA connector. For USB expansion, the board offers four USB 3.2 Gen 1 headers, four additional USB 3.0 headers, and four USB 2.0 headers. Six fan headers are available for cooling management, and a TPM connector is present for security module installation.
The board features one PCIe 5.0 x16 slot as the primary expansion slot, alongside one PCIe x4 slot and two PCIe x1 slots. There are no PCIe 2.0, 3.0, or 4.0 x16 slots, no PCIe x8 slots, and no legacy PCI slots.
Audio output supports a 7.1-channel configuration, with two audio connectors available on the board. A S/PDIF Out port is also included for digital audio output.
The board supports RAID 0 for striping and RAID 1 for mirroring, while RAID 5, RAID 10, and RAID 0+1 configurations are not available.
