The MSI Vector A18 HX A8W (2025) is a gaming laptop with a physical footprint of 404 mm wide by 307 mm tall and a thickness of 24 mm, giving it a total volume of 2976.672 cm³. It tips the scales at 3600 g, which is typical for a machine in this class. The chassis includes a backlit keyboard but does not employ a fanless cooling design, nor does it carry a weather-sealed or ruggedized build.
The laptop features an 18″ IPS LCD panel with LED backlighting, rendering content at a resolution of 2560 x 1600 px and a pixel density of 167 ppi. The display runs at a 240Hz refresh rate, making it well-suited for fast-paced content, and supports up to four simultaneous external displays. It does not include a touchscreen or an anti-reflection coating.
The system is powered by a 16-core, 32-thread CPU built on a 4 nm process, running at a base speed of 2.5 GHz per core with a turbo ceiling of 5.4 GHz, and supports 64-bit operation along with multithreading. Memory consists of 64GB of DDR5 RAM at 5600 MHz across two slots, with a maximum supported capacity of 96GB. Storage is handled by a 2048GB NVMe SSD over a PCIe 4.0 interface using flash memory. On the graphics side, the GPU operates at a base clock of 975 MHz and boosts to 1500 MHz, backed by 16GB of GDDR7 VRAM, and delivers a floating-point throughput of 23.04 TFLOPS, a texture rate of 384 GTexels/s, and a pixel rate of 144 GPixel/s, with full support for DirectX 12 Ultimate. XeSS (XMX) is not supported.
In PassMark testing, the laptop achieves a multi-threaded score of 57,540, reflecting the overall processing throughput of the system, while the single-threaded PassMark result stands at 4,452, indicating per-core computational performance.
The laptop offers a well-rounded port selection, including two Thunderbolt 4 ports that also function as USB 4 40Gbps connections, one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A port, and two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports; there are no USB 2.0, USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C, DisplayPort, mini DisplayPort, or RJ45 ports. Video output is handled by a single HDMI 2.1 port, and an external memory slot is available for additional storage. Wireless connectivity covers Wi-Fi 7 down through Wi-Fi 4 and Bluetooth 5.4, with AirPlay also supported. A VGA connector is not included.
The laptop is equipped with a 99 Wh battery and includes sleep-and-charge USB ports, allowing connected devices to be charged even when the system is powered off or in sleep mode. It does not use a MagSafe power adapter.
The laptop includes stereo speakers, a 3.5 mm headset jack, and a single microphone, though it lacks Dolby Atmos and an S/PDIF output. A front-facing camera capable of recording at 1080p and 30 fps is built in, but the machine does not offer a fingerprint scanner, 3D facial recognition, or voice command support. On the graphics feature side, the system supports both ray tracing and DLSS. Motion and positioning sensors such as a gyroscope, accelerometer, compass, and GPS are absent, and no stylus is included nor is there an optical disc drive.
The system provides five USB ports in total, including two Thunderbolt ports, with no legacy USB 3.0 connections. The GPU is based on the Blackwell architecture and features 7680 shading units, 256 texture mapping units, 96 render output units, a 256-bit memory bus, an effective memory speed of 25,400 MHz, and a maximum memory bandwidth of 811.5 GB/s; it supports multi-display output, stereoscopic 3D, OpenCL 3, OpenGL 4.6, and Double Precision Floating Point, and does not have LHR. An integrated Radeon 610M GPU is also present. Intel Resizable BAR is supported, and the CPU has a thermal design power of 80W, a clock multiplier of 25, a maximum operating temperature of 100°C, and is compatible with both laptop and desktop form factors; it does not use big.LITTLE technology and has a locked multiplier. The CPU supports instruction sets including MMX, F16C, FMA3, AES, AVX, AVX2, SSE 4.1, and SSE 4.2, along with the NX bit. Cache is organized as 1280 KB of L1, 16 MB of L2 at 1 MB per core, and 64 MB of L3 at 4 MB per core. Memory runs across two channels with a maximum speed of 5600 MHz and ECC support.
