It carries an IP65 ingress protection rating, meaning it is rated against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets, though it does not feature a rugged or reinforced build.

The OnePlus Nord 5 features a 6.83″ OLED/AMOLED touchscreen with a resolution of 1272 x 2800 px and a pixel density of 450 ppi, backed by a 144Hz refresh rate and a 240Hz touch sampling rate for responsive interaction. Typical brightness sits at 1400 nits, and the display supports both HDR10 and HDR10+, though Dolby Vision is not supported. The panel is protected by Gorilla Glass 7i, includes an Always-On Display mode, and does not have a secondary screen.

The OnePlus Nord 5 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 system-on-chip, built on a 4 nm process with a multi-core CPU configuration of 1 x 3 GHz, 4 x 2.8 GHz, and 3 x 2 GHz cores using big.LITTLE technology, a TDP of 12.5W, and integrated LTE. Graphics are handled by the Adreno 735 GPU clocked at 1100 MHz with 3 execution units, supporting DirectX 12, OpenGL 3.3, OpenGL ES 3.2, OpenVG 1.2, and OpenCL 2, and capable of driving a single display. The chipset also includes TrustZone security and multithreading support, with L2 and L3 caches of 1 MB and 8 MB respectively, while benchmark results include an AnTuTu score of 1,512,943, Geekbench 6 single-core and multi-core scores of 2019 and 5570, and a 3DMark Wild Life Extreme result of 3399.

Customization options span theme customization, dynamic theming, dark mode, and extra dim mode, while notification permissions and customizable notifications give further control over alerts. The OS also offers on-device machine learning, offline voice recognition, voice commands, Live Text selection, full-page scrolling screenshots, sharing intents, a media picker, a child lock, battery health check, and device tracking, though focus modes, Wi-Fi password sharing, Quick Start, and the ability to function as a PC are not included. OS updates do not come directly from the platform vendor.

The OnePlus Nord 5 is equipped with a 5200 mAh rechargeable, non-removable battery that supports 80W wired fast charging, with a charger included in the box. Wireless charging is not available, but the device does feature a battery level indicator, making it straightforward to monitor remaining charge at a glance.

The OnePlus Nord 5 includes stereo speakers and supports wireless audio via aptX, aptX HD, and LDAC, covering a solid range of Bluetooth audio codecs for higher-quality playback, though aptX Adaptive and aptX Lossless are not supported. There is no 3.5 mm headphone jack and no built-in FM radio.
