The Oppo A20 has a standard candy-bar form factor with no folding mechanism or rugged reinforcement, measuring 165.77 mm tall, 76.08 mm wide, and just 7.68 mm thick, with a total volume of around 96.86 cm³ and a weight of 186 g. Despite its lightweight build, it carries an IP54 rating, meaning it holds up against dust ingress and water splashes from any direction, offering a practical level of everyday water resistance without stepping into fully submersible territory.

The Oppo A20 uses a 6.67″ IPS LCD touchscreen with a resolution of 720 x 1604 px, translating to a pixel density of 264 ppi, and supports HDR10 content for improved contrast and color range in compatible media. The display runs at a 90Hz refresh rate with a 180Hz touch sampling rate, contributing to more responsive input handling during everyday interactions. There is no Always-On Display mode, no secondary screen, and the panel does not support HDR10+, Dolby Vision, or any branded damage-resistant glass coating.

The Oppo A20 is driven by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1, a 4 nm octa-core SoC configured as four cores at 2.2 GHz and four at 1.8 GHz across eight threads, with big.LITTLE and HMP scheduling for workload efficiency and a 7W TDP. Graphics are handled by the integrated Adreno 710 GPU clocked at 800 MHz with 128 shading units, supporting DirectX 12, OpenGL ES 3.2, and OpenCL 2. The chip includes integrated LTE, TrustZone security, and 64-bit support, and is paired with 4 GB of DDR5 RAM running at 2750 MHz across two memory channels, delivering up to 22 GB/s of memory bandwidth, while cache is distributed across 256 KB L1, 2 MB L2, and 2 MB L3. Storage comes in at 128 GB via eMMC 5.1, with the platform supporting a maximum memory configuration of 12 GB, and Geekbench 6 scores land at 943 single-core and 2748 multi-core.

The Oppo A20 features a dual-lens rear camera system with an 8 MP primary sensor and a 0.3 MP secondary lens, both using a BSI CMOS sensor design, and the main camera benefits from optical image stabilization and phase-detection autofocus for stills, along with continuous autofocus during video capture. Video recording tops out at 1080p at 30 fps, with no support for HDR10 or Dolby Vision recording, and there is no optical zoom available. The rear camera array is backed by four LED flash units — though not dual-tone or RGB — and shooting options include HDR mode, burst mode, panorama, timelapse, slow-motion video, touch autofocus, and manual controls for exposure, ISO, focus, and white balance, while RAW capture and manual shutter speed are not supported. On the front, a 5 MP single-lens camera sits at an f/2.2 aperture in a standard cutout position, with no front-facing flash and no under-display placement.

The Oppo A20 runs Android 14 and covers a broad range of privacy controls, including location privacy options, camera and microphone access management, clipboard warnings, and the ability to block app tracking, though cross-site tracking blocking and Mail Privacy Protection are not present. On the usability side, the software supports dark mode, dynamic and manual theme customization, customizable notifications, a media picker, full-page scrolling screenshots, split-screen multitasking, Picture-in-Picture, widgets, sharing intents, a child lock, and an extra dim mode, while focus modes, app offloading, Wi-Fi password sharing, and Quick Start are absent. The system also includes on-device machine learning, offline voice recognition, voice commands, Live Text for selecting text from images, phone tracking, multi-user support, and a battery health check tool, and it does not receive direct OS updates from the vendor.

The Oppo A20 is equipped with a 5100 mAh non-removable rechargeable battery that supports 45W fast charging, and a charger is included in the box. A battery level indicator is present for quick at-a-glance monitoring, while wireless charging and reverse wireless charging are not supported.

The Oppo A20 includes a 3.5 mm headphone jack and stereo speakers for wired and built-in audio output. Bluetooth audio is supported through both aptX and LDAC codecs, enabling higher-quality wireless playback, while aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, and aptX Lossless are not available. The device does not have a built-in radio tuner.

The Oppo A20 supports a dual-SIM cellular configuration with a cellular module but no 5G, keeping connectivity to 4G LTE. Wi-Fi coverage spans three standards — Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n), Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac), and Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) — alongside Bluetooth 5 and NFC for short-range communication, while DLNA certification and ANT+ are absent. Wired connectivity is handled via a USB Type-C port running at USB 2.0 speeds, and there is no HDMI output.
