Sharp Aquos Wish5

The Sharp Aquos Wish5 has a conventional, non-folding form factor measuring 166 mm tall, 76 mm wide, and 8.8 mm thick, with a total volume of 111.0208 cm³ and a weight of 187 g. One of its more practical attributes is its IP68-rated waterproofing, which provides a meaningful level of protection against water and dust ingress. It does not feature a rugged build, so while liquid resistance is covered, the chassis itself carries no additional hardening beyond the standard design.

The Sharp Aquos Wish5 uses an IPS LCD touchscreen measuring 6.6″ with a resolution of 720 x 1612 px and a pixel density of 267 ppi. Its 120Hz refresh rate allows for noticeably fluid on-screen motion, though the display does not support HDR10, HDR10+, or Dolby Vision, so high-dynamic-range content is not natively rendered. There is no Always-On Display mode and no secondary screen, and the panel also lacks branded damage-resistant glass.

The Sharp Aquos Wish5 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300, a 6 nm octa-core SoC running two performance cores at 2.4 GHz and six efficiency cores at 2.0 GHz, with 8 threads and support for big.LITTLE and HMP scheduling. It is paired with 8GB of DDR4 RAM at 2133 MHz and 256GB of internal storage, with the chip supporting a maximum memory amount of 12GB and a peak memory bandwidth of 17.07 GB/s. Graphics are handled by the integrated Arm Mali-G57 MC2 GPU clocked at 950 MHz, which supports DirectX 12, while the SoC also includes integrated LTE and is fully 64-bit compliant with multithreading support. The processor's cache hierarchy consists of 512 KB of L1, 1 MB of L2, and 2 MB of L3 cache, and Geekbench 6 scores sit at 782 for single-core and 2012 for multi-core workloads.

The Sharp Aquos Wish5 features a dual-lens rear camera system combining a 50 MP primary sensor and a 2 MP secondary lens, both using a CMOS sensor without back-side illumination. Autofocus options include phase-detection and touch autofocus, as well as continuous autofocus during video recording, though laser autofocus is not available. The camera offers a solid range of manual controls — exposure, ISO, focus, and white balance are all adjustable — but manual shutter speed is not supported, and there is no optical image stabilization or optical zoom. A single LED flash is present, with no dual-tone or RGB configuration, and the front camera does not have its own flash. Shooting modes include HDR, burst, panorama, slow-motion video, and timelapse, while RAW capture, 360-degree panorama, HDR10 recording, Dolby Vision recording, and 3D photo or video are all absent. The 8 MP front camera has an aperture of f/2 and is a single-lens unit positioned conventionally — not under the display — with no secondary front lens.

The Sharp Aquos Wish5 runs Android 14 and covers a broad range of privacy and usability features. On the privacy side, it includes clipboard warnings, location privacy options, camera and microphone access controls, and the ability to block app tracking, though Mail Privacy Protection and cross-site tracking blocking are not present. The interface supports dynamic theming, theme customization, dark mode, and an extra dim mode, while focus modes and app offloading are not available. Productivity is catered to through split-screen multitasking, Picture-in-Picture, full-page screenshots, a media picker, customizable notifications, sharing intents, widgets, and the ability to play games while they are still downloading. The OS also supports on-device machine learning, offline voice recognition, voice commands, and phone tracking, and functions as a multi-user system with a child lock option. Wi-Fi password sharing and Quick Start are not supported, and the device does not receive direct OS updates from the vendor.

The Sharp Aquos Wish5 is equipped with a 5000 mAh rechargeable battery that supports fast charging at up to 27W, allowing for reasonably quick top-ups via cable. A battery level indicator is present, giving users a clear read of remaining charge at any time. Wireless charging is not supported, and the battery is non-removable.

The Sharp Aquos Wish5 includes a 3.5 mm headphone jack, making it compatible with wired audio accessories without the need for an adapter. Speaker output is mono, as stereo speakers are not present. On the wireless audio side, none of the high-quality Bluetooth codecs — aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX Lossless, or LDAC — are supported, and there is no built-in radio tuner.

The Sharp Aquos Wish5 supports 5G connectivity with a maximum download speed of 3300 Mbits/s, and handles Wi-Fi through both Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n) and Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) standards. It accommodates one physical SIM alongside one eSIM, and Bluetooth 5.3 is on board for short-range wireless connections. The device includes NFC, a USB Type-C port running at USB 2.0 speeds, and an external memory slot for expandable storage. For security and biometrics, a fingerprint scanner is present, while 3D facial recognition and an iris scanner are not. Navigation is covered by GPS with Galileo support and a compass, and an accelerometer is included among the sensors, though a gyroscope, barometer, heart rate monitor, and infrared sensor are all absent. Features such as crash detection, emergency SOS via satellite, ANT+, DLNA certification, HDMI output, motion or optical tracking, and a built-in projector are likewise not part of the specification.

The Sharp Aquos Wish5 includes a video light, which can be used to illuminate scenes during video recording. The display is flat rather than curved, uses neither sapphire glass nor an e-paper panel, keeping the screen setup conventional in nature.
