It carries an IP54 rating, meaning it offers protection against dust ingress and water splashing from any direction, though it does not meet the threshold for a fully rugged build.

The TCL 60R 5G features a 6.7″ LCD IPS touchscreen with a resolution of 720 x 1600 px and a pixel density of 262 ppi, paired with a 120Hz refresh rate for fluid on-screen motion. The display does not include branded damage-resistant glass, an Always-On Display mode, or support for HDR10, HDR10+, or Dolby Vision, and there is no secondary screen present.

The TCL 60R 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset, built on a 6 nm process with an octa-core CPU running at 2 x 2.4 GHz and 6 x 2 GHz, supported by 4GB of DDR4 RAM at 2133 MHz and 128GB of internal storage. The SoC integrates an Arm Mali-G57 MC2 GPU clocked at 950 MHz with DirectX 12 support, alongside integrated LTE, and achieves Geekbench 6 scores of 782 single-core and 2012 multi-core. The chip employs big.LITTLE architecture with Heterogeneous Multi-Processing, supports 64-bit computing and multithreading across 8 threads, and offers a maximum memory bandwidth of 17.07 GB/s with a cache hierarchy comprising 512 KB L1, 1 MB L2, and 2 MB L3 cache, while the platform supports up to 12GB of RAM in total.

The TCL 60R 5G features a single-lens 50 MP rear camera with an f/1.8 aperture and a CMOS sensor, supporting phase-detection autofocus, touch autofocus, and continuous autofocus during video recording, though it lacks optical image stabilization, laser autofocus, and a back-illuminated sensor. Manual controls cover exposure, ISO, focus, and white balance, while shooting modes include HDR, burst, panorama, slow-motion video, and timelapse; raw capture and manual shutter speed are not available. Privacy tools include location controls, camera and microphone access management, clipboard warnings, and app tracking blocking, though cross-site tracking blocking, Mail Privacy Protection, and Wi-Fi password sharing are not available. Customization options span dark mode, dynamic theming, theme customization, and customizable notifications, while practical utilities such as full-page screenshots, a media picker, battery health check, extra dim mode, live text selection, sharing intents, a child lock, and device tracking are all present. Offline voice recognition and voice commands are supported, on-device machine learning is built in, and OS updates do not come directly from the platform vendor; focus modes and Quick Start are absent.

The TCL 60R 5G is equipped with a 5200 mAh rechargeable, non-removable battery that supports fast charging at 10W, and a charger is included in the box. A battery level indicator is present for monitoring charge status, while wireless charging is not supported.

The TCL 60R 5G includes a 3.5 mm headphone jack and stereo speakers for versatile audio output. On the wireless audio side, none of the advanced Bluetooth codec standards — aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX Lossless, or LDAC — are supported.

The TCL 60R 5G supports 5G connectivity alongside Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n) and Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac), Bluetooth 5.4, and NFC, with a dual-SIM configuration and a maximum download speed of 3300 MBits/s. It connects via USB Type-C with USB 2.0, includes an external memory slot for storage expansion, and offers GPS with Galileo satellite navigation support. The fingerprint scanner handles biometric authentication, while 3D facial recognition and an iris scanner are not present. An accelerometer is built in, but a gyroscope, compass, barometer, infrared sensor, heart rate monitor, and motion or optical tracking are all absent. HDMI output, ANT+, DLNA certification, satellite SOS, crash detection, and a built-in projector are likewise not featured, and no stylus is included.

The TCL 60R 5G includes a video light to assist with recording in low-light conditions, while its display is flat and standard in nature — sapphire glass, a curved screen, and an e-paper panel are not part of its design.
