Ulefone Armor X16

The Ulefone Armor X16 carries an IP69 ingress protection rating with a waterproof depth tolerance of 2 metres, making it fully resistant to water exposure. It is not a folding device and does not feature a rugged build classification despite its waterproofing. In terms of physical dimensions, the handset measures 173.8 mm in height, 83.4 mm in width, and 18 mm in thickness, with a total volume of 260.91 cm³. It weighs 395.4 g, placing it on the heavier end of the smartphone spectrum.

The Ulefone Armor X16 features a 5.56-inch IPS LCD touchscreen with a resolution of 720 x 1612 px and a pixel density of 318 ppi, paired with a 120Hz refresh rate for smoother on-screen motion. The display is protected by Gorilla Glass 5, offering a degree of resistance against scratches and accidental drops. It does not support HDR10, HDR10+, or Dolby Vision, and there is no Always-On Display mode or secondary screen available on this device.

The Ulefone Armor X16 is driven by the MediaTek Helio G91 chipset, built on a 12 nm process with an octa-core CPU configuration running at 2 x 2 GHz and 6 x 1.8 GHz, supported by big.LITTLE architecture and Heterogeneous Multi-Processing (HMP) for more efficient workload distribution. The chip integrates a Mali G52 MC2 GPU clocked at 850 MHz with a turbo ceiling of 1000 MHz, alongside integrated LTE and TrustZone security. The device ships with 6 GB of DDR4 RAM at 1800 MHz across two memory channels, offering a maximum memory bandwidth of 13.41 GB/s and a maximum supported memory amount of 8 GB, while storage sits at 128 GB via eMMC 5.1. Benchmark scores come in at 425 for single-core and 1262 for multi-core on Geekbench 6, and the platform supports 64-bit processing, DirectX 12, OpenGL ES 3.2, and OpenCL 2.0, with a thermal design power rated at 5W.

The Ulefone Armor X16 features a triple rear camera system with sensors at 48 MP, 20 MP, and 2 MP, using apertures of f/1.8, f/1.8, and f/2.2 respectively, all built on a CMOS sensor without back-side illumination. The main camera supports phase-detection autofocus for stills, continuous autofocus during video, and touch autofocus, though laser autofocus is not available. Video recording tops out at 1080p at 30 fps, with slow-motion capture supported, while HDR10 and Dolby Vision recording are not available. Manual controls cover exposure, ISO, focus, and white balance, with burst mode and in-camera panorama also on hand, though manual shutter speed and RAW shooting are absent, and there is no optical zoom or optical image stabilisation. A single LED flash is included at the rear, with no dual-tone or RGB flash option, and the front has no flash of its own. The 16 MP front camera sits behind an f/2.3 aperture and is a single-lens unit positioned conventionally on the front of the device, not under the display, with no 3D photo or video capabilities on either camera.

The Ulefone Armor X16 runs Android 15, a free and open-source platform that supports multi-user operation, voice commands, offline voice recognition, and on-device machine learning. Privacy-conscious users will find location privacy options, camera and microphone access controls, clipboard warnings, and the ability to block app tracking, though cross-site tracking blocking and Mail Privacy Protection are not included. The interface supports dark mode, dynamic and manual theme customisation, widgets, customisable notifications, and an extra dim mode, while focus modes and Wi-Fi password sharing are absent. Practical usability features include split-screen multitasking, Picture-in-Picture, a media picker, full-page scrolling screenshots, Live Text for selecting text from images, app offloading, sharing intents, a child lock, and the ability to play games while they download. Battery health monitoring and device position tracking are also available, though Quick Start and the ability to use the phone as a PC are not supported, and OS updates do not come directly from the platform vendor.

The Ulefone Armor X16 is equipped with a 10360 mAh rechargeable battery that supports 33W fast charging, with a charger included in the box. A battery level indicator is present to keep track of remaining charge. The battery is not removable, and the device does not support wireless charging or reverse wireless charging.

The Ulefone Armor X16 includes a 3.5 mm headphone jack and a built-in radio, offering a couple of conventional audio options. The device does not feature stereo speakers, and none of the advanced Bluetooth audio codecs — aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX Lossless, or LDAC — are supported.

The Ulefone Armor X16 supports dual SIM cards and connects wirelessly via Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n) and Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac), Bluetooth 5.0, and NFC, though 5G is not available on this model. Wired connectivity is handled through a USB Type-C port running USB 2.0, and there is no HDMI output. Cellular download speeds reach up to 300 Mbit/s with upload speeds of up to 100 Mbit/s, and an external memory slot is available for storage expansion. On the sensors side, the device includes a fingerprint scanner, gyroscope, accelerometer, compass, GPS with Galileo satellite support, and an infrared sensor, while a barometer, heart rate monitor, ANT+ support, and motion or optical tracking are all absent. 3D facial recognition, an iris scanner, DLNA certification, a built-in projector, satellite SOS, crash detection, and a stylus are likewise not part of the feature set.

The Ulefone Armor X16 includes a video light for illumination during video recording. The display is flat rather than curved, and the device uses neither sapphire glass nor an e-paper display panel.
