Vivo X Fold 5

The Vivo X Fold 5 is a foldable device measuring 160 mm tall, 142.7 mm wide, and just 4.7 mm thick, with a total volume of 107.3104 cm³ and a weight of 219 g. It carries an IP58 ingress protection rating, meaning it offers a meaningful degree of water resistance in everyday situations. The phone does not feature a rugged build, so while it handles water exposure within the limits of its rating, it is not designed for harsh or demanding environments.

The Vivo X Fold 5 features an 8.03″ OLED/AMOLED touchscreen with a resolution of 2480 x 2200 px and a pixel density of 413 ppi, complemented by a 120Hz refresh rate for smooth on-screen motion. The display supports HDR10, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision for broad high-dynamic-range content compatibility, and an Always-On Display mode is available for at-a-glance information without fully waking the screen. The device also includes a secondary screen resolving at 1172 x 2748 px, providing usability when the phone is folded. Notably, the main display does not use branded damage-resistant glass.

The Vivo X Fold 5 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 system-on-chip, built on a 4 nm process with a CPU configuration of 1 x 3 GHz, 4 x 2.8 GHz, and 3 x 2 GHz cores using big.LITTLE technology and multithreading support, resulting in Geekbench 6 scores of 2019 single-core and 5570 multi-core. The SoC integrates an Adreno 735 GPU clocked at 1100 MHz with 3 execution units, supporting DirectX 12, OpenGL 3.3, OpenGL ES 3.2, OpenVG 1.2, and OpenCL 2, and is capable of driving one display. The chip also includes integrated LTE, TrustZone security, and carries a thermal design power of 12.5W. The device ships with 16 GB of DDR5 RAM running at 4800 MHz alongside 1024 GB of internal storage, with a maximum supported memory amount of 24 GB, a maximum memory bandwidth of 64 GB/s, 1 MB of L2 cache, 8 MB of L3 cache, and eMMC 5.1 storage support. The 64-bit architecture ensures compatibility with modern software environments.

The Vivo X Fold 5 features a triple 50 MP rear camera system with apertures of f/1.6, f/2.6, and f/2.1, using CMOS sensors and offering 3x optical zoom alongside optical image stabilization for steadier shots. Autofocus options include phase-detection, laser, and touch autofocus, with continuous autofocus also available during video recording. The main camera supports up to 4320 x 30 fps video recording, slow-motion capture, HDR mode, burst mode, timelapse, and in-camera panoramas, though 360-degree panorama, Dolby Vision recording, and 3D photo or video capture are not supported. Manual controls cover exposure, ISO, focus, and white balance, while a dual-tone LED flash with two LEDs assists in low-light shooting; an RGB flash is not included. The front camera setup consists of two 20 MP sensors in a single-lens configuration — there is no multi-lens front camera, no front-facing flash, and the front camera is not positioned under the display. Neither RAW shooting nor a back-illuminated sensor is available on this device.

The Vivo X Fold 5 runs Android 15 and includes a broad set of privacy controls, covering clipboard warnings, location privacy options, and camera and microphone access management, though Mail Privacy Protection and cross-site tracking blocking are not available. Users can personalize the interface through theme customization and dynamic theming, with dark mode and an extra dim mode also on hand, while focus modes are absent. The OS supports notification permissions and customizable notifications, a media picker, full-page scrolling screenshots, split-screen multitasking, Picture-in-Picture, sharing intents, widgets, and the ability to offload apps. Live Text allows text selection from images, and games can be played while still downloading. On-device machine learning is supported, alongside offline voice recognition, voice commands, phone tracking, a child lock, a battery health check, and multi-user functionality. The device does not receive direct OS updates from the vendor, cannot be used as a PC, and lacks both Wi-Fi password sharing and Quick Start. The OS is free and open source.

The Vivo X Fold 5 houses a rechargeable 6000 mAh battery that supports 80W wired fast charging and 40W wireless charging, with a charger included in the box. It also offers reverse wireless charging at 5W, allowing the device to top up other compatible accessories. A battery level indicator is present, while the battery itself is not removable.

The Vivo X Fold 5 includes stereo speakers and supports aptX, aptX HD, and aptX Adaptive for Bluetooth audio transmission, covering a range of quality tiers for wireless listening. However, aptX Lossless and LDAC are not supported. The device does not have a 3.5 mm headphone jack, and there is no built-in radio.

The Vivo X Fold 5 supports 5G connectivity and accommodates two SIM cards, with download speeds reaching 10000 Mbit/s and upload speeds up to 3500 Mbit/s. Wi-Fi coverage spans Wi-Fi 4, 5, 6, 6E, and Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 5.4 handles short-range wireless communication. The device uses a USB Type-C port running USB 3.2 and includes NFC, while HDMI output, DLNA certification, and an external memory slot are absent. Sensors on board include a gyroscope, accelerometer, compass, GPS with Galileo support, an infrared sensor, and a fingerprint scanner. Features such as 3D facial recognition, an iris scanner, a heart rate monitor, a barometer, ANT+ support, crash detection, emergency SOS via satellite, motion tracking, optical tracking, and a built-in projector are not present. No stylus is included with the device.

The Vivo X Fold 5 includes a video light for use during video recording, while its display is flat rather than curved and uses neither sapphire glass nor an e-paper panel.
