Despite the water resistance label reading none, the handset carries an IP69 rating with a waterproof depth rating of 6 m, indicating strong protection against water ingress under defined conditions.

The Xiaomi 17 Ultra features a 6.9″ OLED/AMOLED touchscreen with a resolution of 1200 x 2608 px and a pixel density of 416 ppi, delivering a sharp and detailed visual output. The panel operates at a 120Hz refresh rate and reaches a typical brightness of 1200 nits, while supporting HDR10, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision for broad high dynamic range coverage. Always-On Display is available, and the screen is protected by branded damage-resistant glass. There is no secondary screen on this device.

The interface offers dark mode, dynamic theming, theme customization, and an extra dim mode, while focus modes and Quick Start are not available. Productivity features include split-screen multitasking, Picture-in-Picture, full-page screenshots, a media picker, Live Text, sharing intents, customizable notifications, and the ability to play games while they download. The system supports widgets, app offloading, a child lock, multi-user accounts, phone tracking, offline voice recognition, and voice commands. Wi-Fi password sharing and direct OS vendor updates are not supported, and the device cannot be used as a PC. The OS is free and open source, and a battery health check tool is also included.
