The Asus ROG Strix B860-A Gaming WiFi is built around a single LGA 1851 socket paired with the B860 chipset, and it follows the standard ATX form factor at 305 mm × 244 mm. The board supports overclocking and includes RGB lighting, a clear CMOS button, and dual BIOS for added firmware reliability. Wireless connectivity covers Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) along with earlier Wi-Fi standards down to 802.11n, and Bluetooth 5.4 is also built in, though aptX is not supported. Video output is available via an HDMI 2.1 port, while integrated graphics and an integrated CPU are absent, meaning a discrete processor and dedicated GPU are required. The board carries a three-year warranty.
The board features four DDR5 memory slots arranged across two channels, with a maximum supported capacity of 256 GB. Overclocked RAM speeds can reach up to 8600 MHz, while ECC memory is not supported.
The rear I/O panel offers a varied USB lineup consisting of two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port, four USB 2.0 ports, and one USB 4 20 Gbps port; there are no USB 3.2 Gen 2x2, USB 4 40 Gbps, Thunderbolt 3, or Thunderbolt 4 ports. Display outputs include an HDMI port and one DisplayPort output, while VGA and DVI connectors are absent. Networking is handled by a single RJ45 port, and there are no eSATA or PS/2 ports present.
For internal expansion, the board provides two USB 3.2 Gen 1 headers, two USB 3.0 headers, one USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 header, and two USB 2.0 headers, allowing additional front-panel ports via compatible cases. Storage connectivity is covered by four M.2 sockets and four SATA 3 connectors, with no SATA 2, U.2, or mSATA connectors present. Cooling is supported through six fan headers, and there is no TPM connector on the board.
The board includes two full-length PCIe slots: one PCIe 5.0 x16 and one PCIe 4.0 x16. There are no PCIe 3.0, PCIe 2.0, PCIe x8, PCIe x4, PCIe x1, or legacy PCI slots available.
The onboard audio supports 7.1-channel output and delivers a DAC signal-to-noise ratio of 120 dB. Two audio connectors are available on the rear I/O, and an S/PDIF Out port is also present for digital audio passthrough.
The board supports RAID 0, 1, 5, and 10 configurations, covering a range of performance and redundancy setups. RAID 0+1 is not supported.
