Huawei Nova Y63

The Huawei Nova Y63 has a conventional, non-folding form factor with dimensions of 168.3 mm in height, 77.7 mm in width, and a thickness of 8.9 mm. It weighs 207 g and occupies a volume of approximately 116.38 cm³. The device does not feature a rugged build, so it lacks any certified resistance to physical or environmental stress.

The display on this device is a 6.75″ IPS LCD touchscreen with a resolution of 720 x 1600 px and a pixel density of 260 ppi. It supports a 90Hz refresh rate and includes an Always-On Display feature. The screen does not have branded damage-resistant glass, nor does it support HDR10, HDR10+, or Dolby Vision, and there is no secondary screen present.

The device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 4G, an octa-core chipset built on a 6 nm process with a big.LITTLE configuration running four cores at 2.4 GHz and four at 1.9 GHz, a 6W TDP, and integrated LTE. It comes with 4GB of DDR4 RAM operating at 2133 MHz across two memory channels, offering a maximum memory bandwidth of 14.9 GB/s and support for up to 8GB, alongside 128GB of eMMC 5.1 internal storage. Graphics are handled by the integrated Adreno 610 GPU, clocked at 845 MHz with a turbo mode at 800 MHz, supporting DirectX 12, OpenGL ES 3.2, and OpenCL 2.0. The chipset supports 64-bit processing, NX bit, and ARM TrustZone security, while Geekbench 6 results sit at 416 single-core and 1466 multi-core, with Geekbench 5 recording 385 and 1550 respectively.

The rear camera system is a dual-lens setup with a 50 MP and 2 MP configuration, both at f/2.0 aperture, capable of recording video at 1080p and 30 fps with continuous autofocus during recording. Autofocus options include phase-detection and touch autofocus, though laser autofocus is absent, and there is no optical image stabilization or optical zoom. Manual controls cover exposure, ISO, focus, and white balance, while additional shooting modes include HDR, burst, panorama, slow-motion video, and timelapse; RAW capture and manual shutter speed are not supported. The single LED flash does not feature dual-tone or RGB output, and HDR10 or Dolby Vision recording are not available. On the front, an 8 MP single-lens camera sits at f/2.0 with no dedicated flash, and the front camera is neither under-display nor part of a multi-lens arrangement.

The device runs Android 12 and includes a solid range of privacy controls, covering clipboard warnings, location privacy options, camera and microphone access management, and the ability to block app tracking, though cross-site tracking blocking and Mail Privacy Protection are not present. On the usability side, it supports dark mode, dynamic and manual theme customization, extra dim mode, customizable notifications, split-screen multitasking, picture-in-picture, full-page screenshots, Live Text, sharing intents, widgets, and the ability to play games while they download. The system also offers offline voice recognition, voice commands, on-device machine learning, multi-user support, child lock, and phone tracking. Features absent include focus modes, a media picker, Wi-Fi password sharing, battery health check, app offloading, Quick Start, and the ability to function as a PC. Direct OS updates from the vendor are not supported, and the platform is noted as free and open source.

The device is equipped with a 6000 mAh rechargeable battery that supports 22.5W fast charging, and a charger is included in the box. A battery level indicator is present for monitoring charge status. The battery is not removable, and wireless charging is not supported.

The audio configuration of this device is notably limited. There is no 3.5 mm headphone jack and no stereo speaker setup. On the wireless audio side, none of the high-quality Bluetooth codec options are supported, including aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX Lossless, or LDAC. A built-in radio is also absent.

The device includes a video light for use during video recording. The display is flat rather than curved, and neither sapphire glass nor an e-paper panel are part of its construction.
