Each earbud houses a stereo speaker, while features such as RGB lighting, a UV light, and a display are not part of the design.
The JBL Endurance Race 2 feature active noise cancellation alongside passive noise reduction, giving them two layers of sound isolation. Their 6.8 mm drivers cover a frequency range of 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz, with an impedance of 16 Ohms and a sound pressure level of 95 dB/mW. Spatial audio, Dolby Atmos, Dirac Virtuo, and a neodymium magnet are not included in this model.
The JBL Endurance Race 2 offer 12 hours of battery life per charge, dropping to 10 hours when active noise cancellation is enabled, while the charging case adds a further 36 hours of total playback. A full charge takes 2 hours, and the earbuds include a battery level indicator so users can monitor remaining power. The battery is rechargeable, though wireless charging and solar power are not supported.
The JBL Endurance Race 2 connect wirelessly via Bluetooth 5.3 with a maximum range of 10 meters, and support fast pairing for a quick initial setup. USB Type-C is available for wired charging. On the codec side, the earbuds do not support LDAC, LDHC, AAC, Auracast, Bluetooth LE Audio, or any variant of aptX, including aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX Low Latency, aptX Lossless, and aptX Voice. NFC pairing is also not available.
The JBL Endurance Race 2 include an ambient sound mode for awareness of surrounding sounds, a mute function, voice prompts, and a find device feature for locating misplaced earbuds. They support multipoint connection with up to two devices simultaneously and can be used as a headset for calls. Fast charging is supported, and a travel bag is included in the box. Controls are handled via a panel on the device itself, with no in-line control panel present. In/on-ear detection for automatic pause, notification readout, a body temperature sensor, and a camera remote shutter function are not available on this model.
