Meizu 22

The Meizu 22 has a non-folding, non-rugged form factor measuring 152 mm tall, 71 mm wide, and 8.2 mm thick, with a total volume of 88.4944 cm³ and a weight of 190 g. It carries a full IP68 rating, confirming it is waterproof and rated to withstand submersion at depths of up to 1.5 m.

The Meizu 22 features a 6.3-inch OLED/AMOLED touchscreen with a resolution of 1200 x 2670 px and a pixel density of 465 ppi, running at a 120Hz refresh rate with a typical brightness of 1800 nits. The display supports both HDR10 and HDR10+, includes an Always-On Display mode, but does not support Dolby Vision and lacks branded damage-resistant glass. There is no secondary screen on this device.

The Meizu 22 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset, built on a 4 nm process with an 8-thread CPU configuration using big.LITTLE technology across clock speeds of up to 3.21 GHz, supported by an Adreno 825 GPU running at 1150 MHz with 3 execution units and a TDP of 12.5W. The SoC includes integrated LTE, integrated graphics, TrustZone security, and supports 64-bit processing alongside multithreading, with Geekbench 6 scores of 2041 single-core and 6833 multi-core. Memory consists of 16 GB of DDR5 RAM at 4800 MHz with a maximum supported capacity of 24 GB and a peak bandwidth of 76.8 GB/s, backed by 1024 GB of internal storage and cache comprising 6 MB L2 and 8 MB L3. Graphics API support covers DirectX 12, OpenGL 3.3, OpenGL ES 3.2, OpenVG 1.2, and OpenCL 2, with the GPU capable of driving one display.

The Meizu 22 features a triple rear camera system with three 50 MP CMOS sensors at apertures of f/1.7, f/2.5, and f/2.1, covering a focal range from 13 mm to 72 mm with 3x optical zoom and built-in optical image stabilization. Autofocus options include phase-detection and touch autofocus as well as continuous autofocus during video, though laser autofocus is absent, and a single LED flash is present without dual-tone or RGB variants. Video recording reaches up to 4K at 60 fps, with slow-motion and timelapse modes available, but HDR10 and Dolby Vision recording are not supported. Manual controls cover exposure, ISO, focus, and white balance, while burst mode and in-camera panoramas are also included; manual shutter speed, however, is not available. The front camera is a single-lens 50 MP unit with an f/2.1 aperture, HDR support, and timelapse capability, but it lacks a front flash and is not positioned under the display. 3D photo and video recording are not supported.

The Meizu 22 runs Android 15 as a free and open-source platform, offering a broad set of privacy controls including clipboard warnings, location privacy options, camera and microphone access management, and the ability to block app tracking, though cross-site tracking blocking and Mail Privacy Protection are absent. The interface supports theme customization, dynamic theming, dark mode, and an extra dim mode, while productivity features include split-screen multitasking, Picture-in-Picture, full-page screenshots, a media picker, customizable notifications, sharing intents, widgets, and the ability to play games while they are still downloading. On-device machine learning, offline voice recognition, voice commands, and Live Text are all present, and the system supports multi-user access, app offloading, phone tracking, child lock, and battery health checks. Focus modes, Wi-Fi password sharing, Quick Start, and the ability to function as a PC are not available, and OS updates are not delivered directly from the vendor.

The Meizu 22 houses a non-removable rechargeable 5510 mAh battery with a battery level indicator. It supports fast wired charging at 80W, wireless charging at 66W, and reverse wireless charging at 10W, making it a versatile option for both topping up and sharing power with other devices.

The Meizu 22 does not include a 3.5 mm headphone jack or a built-in radio. For wireless audio, it supports aptX HD, while aptX, aptX Adaptive, aptX Lossless, and LDAC are not available.

The Meizu 22 supports 5G connectivity with download speeds of up to 4200 Mbits/s and upload speeds of up to 3500 Mbits/s, and accommodates two SIM cards. Wi-Fi coverage spans Wi-Fi 4 through Wi-Fi 7 (802.11n/ac/ax/be), complemented by Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, and a USB Type-C port running USB 3.2, though there is no external memory slot or HDMI output. Onboard sensors include a gyroscope, accelerometer, compass, GPS with Galileo support, an infrared sensor, and a fingerprint scanner, while a barometer, heart rate monitor, ANT+ support, motion tracking, optical tracking, 3D facial recognition, and an iris scanner are all absent. Crash detection, emergency SOS via satellite, DLNA certification, and a built-in projector are likewise not featured, and no stylus is included.

The Meizu 22 includes a video light, while its display is flat rather than curved and uses neither sapphire glass nor an e-paper panel.
