The Oppo A5x 5G has a non-folding, standard-form design measuring 165.7 mm tall, 76.2 mm wide, and 8 mm thick, with a total volume of 101.01 cm³ and a weight of 193 g. It carries an IP65 ingress protection rating, meaning it is water resistant and sealed against dust intrusion. The device does not feature a rugged build, so while it handles everyday exposure to the elements, it is not designed for heavy-duty or harsh-environment use.

The Oppo A5x 5G features a 6.67″ IPS LCD touchscreen with a resolution of 720 x 1604 px and a pixel density of 264 ppi, paired with a 120Hz refresh rate for smoother on-screen motion. The display is protected by Gorilla Glass 7i, offering resistance against everyday scratches and minor impacts. It does not support HDR10, HDR10+, or Dolby Vision, and there is no Always-On Display mode or secondary screen.

The Oppo A5x 5G is driven by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300, a 6 nm octa-core chipset running two performance cores at 2.4 GHz and six efficiency cores at 2 GHz, with 8 threads and support for big.LITTLE and HMP technologies for balanced workload distribution. It comes with 4 GB of DDR4 RAM running at 2133 MHz and 128 GB of internal storage, while the platform supports a maximum memory amount of 12 GB and a peak memory bandwidth of 17.07 GB/s. Graphics are handled by the integrated Arm Mali-G57 MC2 GPU clocked at 950 MHz, with DirectX 12 support, and the chip also includes integrated LTE. The CPU scores 782 in Geekbench 6 single-core and 2012 in multi-core testing, and the cache hierarchy consists of 512 KB L1, 1 MB L2, and 2 MB L3 cache. The chipset supports 64-bit processing and multithreading throughout.

The Oppo A5x 5G has a single-lens rear camera with a 32 MP CMOS sensor and an f/1.9 aperture, capable of recording video at 1080p and 30 fps. It supports phase-detection autofocus for photos, continuous autofocus during video recording, and touch autofocus, though laser autofocus is not present. Manual controls cover exposure, ISO, focus, and white balance, while optical zoom is absent. The camera also offers HDR mode, burst shooting, slow-motion video, timelapse, and in-camera panoramas, but does not shoot RAW files, lacks manual shutter speed control, and cannot capture 360° panoramas, HDR10, Dolby Vision, or 3D content. A single LED flash is included, with no dual-tone or RGB flash. On the front, there is a 5 MP camera with an f/2.2 aperture — a single-lens setup with no flash and not positioned under the display.

The Oppo A5x 5G runs Android 15 and includes a broad set of privacy controls, covering location access, camera and microphone permissions, clipboard warnings, and app tracking blocking, though cross-site tracking blocking and Mail Privacy Protection are not available. The interface supports theme customization, dynamic theming, dark mode, and an extra dim mode, while widgets, split-screen multitasking, Picture-in-Picture, full-page screenshots, and a media picker round out the usability features. Users can offload apps, manage multiple user accounts, set up a child lock, and customize notifications, and the system also supports on-device machine learning, offline voice recognition, voice commands, and phone tracking. Games can be played while downloading, and sharing intents and Live Text are both supported. Wi-Fi password sharing, focus modes, Quick Start, and the ability to use the device as a PC are not included, and OS updates do not come directly from the platform vendor.

The Oppo A5x 5G is equipped with a 6000 mAh rechargeable battery that supports 45W fast charging, allowing for quicker top-ups compared to standard charging speeds. A battery level indicator is present, and the battery is non-removable. Wireless charging is not supported.

The Oppo A5x 5G includes stereo speakers but does not have a 3.5 mm headphone jack, so wired audio requires an adapter or wireless alternative. No radio is present, and the device does not support any high-resolution Bluetooth audio codecs, including aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX Lossless, or LDAC.

The Oppo A5x 5G supports 5G connectivity and accommodates two SIM cards, with a maximum download speed of 3300 Mbit/s. Wi-Fi covers both Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n) and Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac), and Bluetooth 5.1 is on board, though NFC is absent. For navigation, it includes GPS with Galileo support and a compass, while the sensor set also features an accelerometer and a fingerprint scanner. A gyroscope, barometer, infrared sensor, heart rate monitor, and motion or optical tracking are not present, nor is there an iris scanner or 3D facial recognition. HDMI output, ANT+ support, DLNA certification, satellite emergency SOS, crash detection, a built-in projector, and a stylus are likewise not included.

The Oppo A5x 5G includes a video light, which can be used to illuminate subjects during video recording. The display is flat rather than curved, and it uses neither sapphire glass nor an e-paper panel.
