Umidigi G9x

The Umidigi G9x has a conventional candy-bar form factor with no folding mechanism or rugged reinforcements, and it carries no water resistance rating. It measures 168.3 mm tall, 78 mm wide, and 8.1 mm thick, resulting in a volume of around 106.33 cm³. At 190g, the handset sits at a moderate weight for its size class.

The Umidigi G9x features a 6.75-inch IPS LCD touchscreen with a resolution of 720 x 1600 px and a pixel density of 260 ppi. It supports a 90Hz refresh rate for smoother on-screen motion, though it lacks HDR10, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision support, as well as an Always-On Display mode. There is no branded damage-resistant glass and no secondary screen present on this device.

The Umidigi G9x is powered by the Unisoc SC9863A, an octa-core chipset built on a 28nm process using big.LITTLE technology, with four cores clocked at 1.6GHz and four at 1.2GHz across 8 threads, and a TDP of 3W. It is paired with 4GB of DDR4 RAM running at 933MHz across two memory channels, offering a maximum memory bandwidth of 7.464 GB/s and support for up to 6GB total, alongside 128GB of eMMC 5.1 internal storage. Graphics are handled by the integrated PowerVR GE8322, which has 4 execution units and 128 shading units running at a base clock of 550MHz with a turbo frequency of 800MHz, supporting DirectX 11, OpenGL ES 3.2, and OpenCL 2.0. The SoC also features integrated LTE and 64-bit support, and benchmark results include a Geekbench 6 multi-core score of 725, a Geekbench 5 multi-core score of 2956, and a PassMark score of 1327, with an L3 cache of 0.512MB rounding out the configuration.

The Umidigi G9x uses a single-lens 13MP rear camera built on a CMOS sensor, without optical image stabilization, a BSI sensor, or laser autofocus, and offers no optical zoom. Manual controls cover ISO, exposure, focus, and white balance, and the camera supports touch autofocus, slow-motion video recording, and in-camera panoramas, though HDR mode, RAW capture, manual shutter speed, HDR10 recording, Dolby Vision recording, and 3D photo or video are all absent. The rear setup is accompanied by a single LED flash — not dual-tone or RGB — and there is no front-facing flash. On the front, a 5MP single-lens camera handles selfies, positioned conventionally rather than under the display.

The Umidigi G9x runs Android 14 as a free and open-source operating system, and does not receive direct OS updates from the vendor. On the privacy side, it includes clipboard warnings, location privacy options, camera and microphone access controls, and app tracking blocking, though Mail Privacy Protection and cross-site tracking blocking are not present. The OS supports a broad range of usability features including dark mode, dynamic and manual theme customization, customizable notifications, a media picker, split-screen multitasking, Picture-in-Picture, full-page screenshots, widgets, sharing intents, a child lock, and an extra dim mode. It also offers on-device machine learning, offline voice recognition, voice commands, phone tracking, multi-user support, battery health check, and the ability to play games while they download, while focus modes, Wi-Fi password sharing, app offloading, Quick Start, and PC mode are not included.

The Umidigi G9x houses a 5000mAh rechargeable battery that is non-removable and does not support wireless charging. It does support fast charging at 10W via cable, and a battery level indicator is present to keep the user informed of remaining charge.

The Umidigi G9x includes a built-in radio but is limited in its broader audio capabilities — it lacks stereo speakers and does not support any high-quality Bluetooth audio codecs, with no aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX Lossless, or LDAC available.

The Umidigi G9x connects via a cellular module with a single SIM slot, supporting download speeds of up to 300 Mbit/s and upload speeds of up to 150 Mbit/s, though 5G is not available. Wireless connectivity includes Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n) and Bluetooth 4.2, while NFC, DLNA certification, HDMI output, and ANT+ are all absent. For location, the device supports GPS and Galileo but lacks a compass, gyroscope, and barometer. Security is handled through a fingerprint scanner, with no 3D facial recognition or iris scanner present. On the hardware side, there is a USB Type-C port and an external memory slot, while an accelerometer is the only motion sensor included — motion tracking, optical tracking, heart rate monitor, infrared sensor, crash detection, satellite SOS, and a built-in projector are all not featured.

The Umidigi G9x includes a video light for recording in low-light conditions, while its display is flat rather than curved and uses neither sapphire glass nor e-paper technology.
