The build does not qualify as rugged-certified, so while water resistance is formally covered, the device is not designed for extreme physical punishment.

The Nubia Z70S Ultra uses an OLED/AMOLED touchscreen measuring 6.85″ with a resolution of 1216 x 2688 px and a pixel density of 431 ppi, backed by a 144Hz refresh rate and a 960Hz touch sampling rate for responsive input. Typical brightness is rated at 2000 nits, and the display supports HDR10 as well as an Always-On Display mode, though HDR10+ and Dolby Vision are not supported. The panel is protected by Gorilla Glass 7i and there is no secondary screen. Dolby Vision recording is absent on the display side as well, and the device does not feature a second screen.

Graphics are handled by the integrated Adreno 830 GPU clocked at 1100 MHz with 1536 shading units, supporting DirectX 12, OpenGL 3.2, OpenGL ES 3.2, and OpenCL 3, and capable of driving up to 2 displays. The chipset also includes integrated LTE and TrustZone security, operates in 64-bit mode, and the cache hierarchy comprises 192 KB L1, 12 MB L2, and 8 MB L3. Productivity features extend to full-page scrolling screenshots, a media picker, Live Text, sharing intents, customizable notifications with granular permission controls, offline voice recognition, voice commands, on-device machine learning, and the ability to play games while they are still downloading. A child lock, battery health check, phone tracking, and app offloading round out the feature set, while Wi-Fi password sharing, focus modes, Quick Start, and the ability to use the device as a PC are not supported. OS updates are not delivered directly by the vendor, meaning software updates are dependent on the manufacturer's own distribution process.

The Nubia Z70S Ultra is equipped with a 6600 mAh rechargeable, non-removable battery that supports 80W fast wired charging, with a charger included in the box. The Nubia Z70S Ultra includes stereo speakers and supports a broad range of Bluetooth audio codecs, covering aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, and aptX Lossless, making it well-suited for high-quality wireless audio playback. LDAC is not supported, and there is no built-in radio. The device also lacks a 3.5 mm headphone jack, so wired headphones require an adapter or a USB-C connection.

The sensor suite comprises a gyroscope, accelerometer, compass, GPS with Galileo support, and an infrared sensor, while a barometer, heart rate monitor, ANT+ support, and motion or optical tracking are all absent. Crash detection, emergency SOS via satellite, DLNA certification, and a built-in projector are likewise not featured.

The Nubia Z70S Ultra includes a video light to assist with recording in low-light conditions, while the display is flat rather than curved and uses neither sapphire glass nor an e-paper panel.
