It supports a 120Hz refresh rate and a matching 120Hz touch sampling rate, and includes an Always-On Display mode. The screen is compatible with both Dolby Vision and HDR10, though HDR10+ is not supported. There is no branded damage-resistant glass coating and no secondary screen, and the device does not feature HDR10+ support.

The iPhone 17 is powered by the Apple A19 chipset, built on a 3 nm process with 20 billion transistors and a TDP of 10W. The iPhone 17 features a dual-lens rear camera system with two 48 MP sensors, one at f/2.2 and the other at f/1.6, with pixel sizes of 1 µm and 0.7 µm respectively, a focal length range of 13–26 mm, and 2x optical zoom. Both sensors use BSI CMOS technology, and the system includes optical image stabilization, phase-detection autofocus, touch autofocus, and continuous autofocus during video recording, while laser autofocus is not present. The iPhone 17 is equipped with a 3692 mAh rechargeable battery rated for up to 30 hours of battery life, with a battery level indicator built in. It supports fast wired charging at 40W as well as wireless charging at 30W, though reverse wireless charging is not available. The battery is non-removable and no charger is included in the box.

The iPhone 17 includes a video light, while its display is flat rather than curved and uses neither sapphire glass nor e-paper technology.
