The Xiaomi 17 Pro features a 6.3″ OLED/AMOLED touchscreen with a resolution of 1220 x 2656 px and a pixel density of 464 ppi, backed by a 120Hz refresh rate and a 300Hz touch sampling rate for responsive input. The display supports HDR10, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision, and is protected by branded damage-resistant glass. An Always-On Display mode is available, and the device also includes a secondary screen with a resolution of 904 x 572px.

The Xiaomi 17 Pro is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, a 3 nm chipset running 8 threads across a big.LITTLE configuration clocked at 2 x 4.6 GHz and 6 x 3.62 GHz, with a TDP of 8.2W, HMP support, and TrustZone security. It is paired with 16 GB of DDR5 RAM at 5300 MHz, a maximum memory capacity of 24 GB, a memory bandwidth of 85.1 GB/s across 2 channels, and ECC memory support, alongside 1024 GB of internal storage. The Adreno 830 GPU runs at 1200 MHz with 1536 shading units, supports DirectX 12, OpenGL 3.2, OpenGL ES 3.2, and OpenCL 3, and can drive up to 2 displays simultaneously. Cache consists of 192 KB L1, 12 MB L2, and 8 MB L3. The chipset also includes integrated LTE and integrated graphics, and the platform is 64-bit with multithreading enabled. Benchmark results stand at 3,691,009 on AnTuTu, 10,059 on Geekbench 6 multi-core, and 3,234 on Geekbench 6 single-core.

The Xiaomi 17 Pro features a triple rear camera system, each lens at 50 MP, with apertures of f/1.7, f/2.4, and f/3.0, covering focal lengths from 17 mm to 115 mm and offering 5x optical zoom. The multi-lens setup uses a CMOS BSI sensor and includes optical image stabilisation, laser autofocus, phase-detection autofocus, and touch autofocus, with continuous autofocus available during video recording. Video recording reaches up to 4320 x 30 fps with support for HDR10 and Dolby Vision recording, as well as slow-motion capture, while a dual-tone LED flash with 2 LEDs assists in low-light situations. Manual controls cover exposure, ISO, focus, and white balance, though manual shutter speed is not available; additional shooting modes include burst, timelapse, panorama, and HDR, while 360° panorama and 3D recording are not supported. On the front, a single 50 MP camera with an f/2.2 aperture is present — it is not under-display, does not have a dual-lens arrangement, and has no front-facing LED flash.

The Xiaomi 17 Pro runs Android 16, a free and open-source platform that supports multi-user operation, on-device machine learning, offline voice recognition, and voice commands, along with device tracking. Privacy provisions include clipboard warnings, location privacy options, camera and microphone access controls, and app tracking blocking, though Mail Privacy Protection, cross-site tracking blocking, and Wi-Fi password sharing are not available. Personalisation options span theme customisation, dynamic theming, dark mode, and an extra dim mode, while productivity is supported through split-screen multitasking, Picture-in-Picture, widgets, sharing intents, customisable notifications, notification permission controls, a media picker, full-page screenshots, Live Text, and the ability to play games while they download. Apps can be offloaded to free up storage, a battery health check tool is present, and a child lock is included; however, focus modes, Quick Start, and the ability to function as a PC are not supported. OS updates are not delivered directly from the vendor.

The Xiaomi 17 Pro houses a rechargeable 6300 mAh battery with a battery level indicator, though it is not user-removable. Wired fast charging is supported at 100W, while wireless charging runs at 50W, and reverse wireless charging is available at 22.5W for topping up other devices.

The Xiaomi 17 Pro includes stereo speakers but omits a 3.5 mm headphone jack and has no built-in radio. For wireless audio, it supports aptX, aptX HD, and aptX Adaptive, while LDAC and aptX Lossless are not available.

The Xiaomi 17 Pro supports 5G and accommodates two SIM cards, with download speeds reaching 10,000 Mbits/s and upload speeds of 3,500 Mbits/s. Wi-Fi coverage spans Wi-Fi 4, 5, 6, 6E, and 7, while Bluetooth 5.4 and NFC are also on board; there is no external memory slot, no HDMI output, and no DLNA certification. The USB Type-C port runs at USB 3.2, and security is handled by a fingerprint scanner, though 3D facial recognition and an iris scanner are absent — as is a stylus. Sensors include a gyroscope, accelerometer, compass, barometer, GPS with Galileo support, and an infrared sensor, while a heart rate monitor, ANT+, motion tracking, optical tracking, crash detection, satellite SOS, and a built-in projector are not present.

The Xiaomi 17 Pro includes a video light, while its display is flat rather than curved and uses neither sapphire glass nor an e-paper panel.
