They are fully true wireless, with no cables or neckband, and weigh just 21 g. The earbuds carry an IPX4 ingress protection rating, making them sweat resistant, though they do not include RGB lighting, a UV light, or a display. Stereo speakers are present, delivering audio through both earpieces.
The ATH-AC5TW use a 14.3 mm driver unit and cover a frequency range of 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz. They do not include active noise cancellation or passive noise isolation, and there is no support for spatial audio formats such as Dolby Atmos or Dirac Virtuo. The drivers do not use a neodymium magnet.
The ATH-AC5TW are equipped with a rechargeable battery offering 13 hours of battery life, with the charging case contributing an additional 21 hours for a combined total of 34 hours. A full charge takes 2 hours, and a battery level indicator is included to keep track of remaining power. The earbuds do not support wireless charging and there is no solar power battery.
The ATH-AC5TW connect wirelessly via Bluetooth 5.4 with a maximum range of 10 m and support the AAC codec, though higher-resolution options such as LDAC, LDHC, aptX and its variants, and Bluetooth LE Audio are not available. The earbuds charge over USB Type-C but do not support fast pairing, NFC pairing, or Auracast.
The ATH-AC5TW support fast charging and can be used as a headset, with controls placed directly on the device and a mute function available during calls. Voice prompts are included, and a travel bag comes in the box. The earbuds do not offer ambient sound mode, in-ear detection for auto-pausing, a find-device feature, notification reading, an in-line control panel, a temperature sensor, or a camera remote shutter function.
The ATH-AC5TW include a total of 4 microphones, and the setup features noise-canceling microphone technology to help reduce unwanted background sound during calls or voice input.
