The MSI Pro B840-P WiFi is built around the AM5 socket and the B840 chipset, housed in a standard ATX form factor measuring 304.8 mm wide and 243.8 mm tall. It supports a single CPU and has no integrated processor or integrated graphics. Wireless connectivity is handled by a built-in module covering Wi-Fi 4 through Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) alongside Bluetooth 5.4, though aptX audio codec support is not included. For display output, the board provides an HDMI 2.1 port. Additional conveniences include RGB lighting, an easy CMOS reset mechanism, and dual BIOS for added firmware safety. The board also supports overclocking and comes backed by a three-year warranty.
This board uses DDR5 memory across four slots arranged in a dual-channel configuration, with a maximum supported capacity of 256GB. The native RAM speed tops out at 5600 MHz, while overclocking can push that figure up to 8000 MHz. ECC memory is not supported.
The rear I/O panel offers a varied USB selection, including one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A port, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port, and four USB 2.0 ports. Higher-speed options such as USB 3.2 Gen 2x2, USB 4, Thunderbolt 3, and Thunderbolt 4 are not present. For display output, there is one HDMI port, while DisplayPort, DVI, and VGA outputs are absent. Networking is handled by a single RJ45 port. There are no eSATA or PS/2 ports on this board.
Internal connectivity is well covered, with two M.2 sockets and four SATA 3 connectors for storage, while SATA 2, mSATA, and U.2 sockets are not included. USB expansion headers consist of two USB 3.2 Gen 1 connectors and four USB 2.0 connectors, alongside two additional USB 3.0 expansion ports. Cooling is supported by six fan headers, and a TPM connector is present for security module use.
The board provides a total of five expansion slots: one PCIe 4.0 x16 slot, one PCIe 3.0 x16 slot, and three PCIe x1 slots. PCIe 5.0 x16, PCIe 2.0 x16, PCIe x4, PCIe x8, and legacy PCI slots are not available.
The onboard audio supports 7.1-channel output and is accessible through three analog audio connectors. An S/PDIF Out port is not included on this board.
The board supports RAID 0, RAID 1, and RAID 10 (1+0) configurations, covering common use cases for both performance and redundancy. RAID 5 and RAID 0+1 are not supported.
