Tecno Camon 40

The Tecno Camon 40 has a conventional, non-folding form factor measuring 164.1 mm tall, 74.6 mm wide, and just 7.3 mm thick, with a weight of 177.2 g that keeps it relatively manageable for its size. One of its notable design traits is its IP66 rating, which certifies it as water resistant and capable of withstanding powerful water jets, though it does not carry a rugged designation. The device occupies a total volume of approximately 89.37 cm³, reflecting a slim and standard smartphone profile without any ruggedized bulk.

The Tecno Camon 40 features a 6.78″ OLED/AMOLED touchscreen with a resolution of 1080 x 2436 px and a pixel density of 393 ppi, delivering a sharp and vibrant visual experience. The panel runs at a 120Hz refresh rate, contributing to smoother scrolling and more fluid on-screen motion, and it supports an Always-On Display mode for at-a-glance information without fully waking the screen. The display does not include branded damage-resistant glass, nor does it support HDR10, HDR10+, or Dolby Vision, and there is no secondary screen present on the device.

The Tecno Camon 40 is powered by the MediaTek Helio G100, a 6 nm chipset with an octa-core CPU configuration running at 2 x 2.2 GHz and 6 x 2 GHz using big.LITTLE architecture with Heterogeneous Multi-Processing (HMP), backed by 8 GB of LPDDR4 RAM at 4266 MHz and 256 GB of internal storage, with a maximum supported memory amount of 12 GB. The SoC integrates a Mali G57 GPU clocked at 1000 MHz, supports DirectX 11 and OpenGL ES 3.2, and handles OpenCL 2.0, while the maximum memory bandwidth reaches 17.1 GB/s and the chip carries a Thermal Design Power of 5W. Additional platform-level features include integrated LTE, TrustZone security, 64-bit support, and integrated graphics, with the chipset posting an AnTuTu benchmark score of approximately 415,000.

The Tecno Camon 40 features a dual-lens rear camera system led by a 50 MP main sensor paired with an 8 MP secondary lens, both supported by a CMOS sensor, optical image stabilization, phase-detection autofocus, and touch autofocus, though the setup does not include a back-illuminated sensor or laser autofocus. Two LED flash units are present on the rear, though they do not form a dual-tone or RGB configuration, and there is no optical zoom available. On the software side, the camera offers a solid range of manual controls including exposure, ISO, focus, and white balance, along with HDR mode, burst shooting, panorama, timelapse, slow-motion video recording, and continuous autofocus during video capture, while RAW shooting, manual shutter speed, HDR10 recording, Dolby Vision recording, and 3D capture are not supported. The front camera offers a single 32 MP lens without a dedicated flash or an under-display placement, and it does not feature a multi-lens arrangement.

The Tecno Camon 40 runs Android 15 and ships with a broad set of software features covering both usability and privacy. On the privacy side, it includes clipboard warnings, location privacy options, camera and microphone access controls, and the ability to block app tracking, though it does not offer Mail Privacy Protection or cross-site tracking prevention. Personalization options include theme customization, dynamic theming, dark mode, and an extra dim mode, while productivity is served by split-screen support, picture-in-picture, customizable notifications, notification permissions, a media picker, widgets, sharing intents, full-page screenshots, Live Text, and the ability to play games while they are still downloading. The system also supports on-device machine learning, offline voice recognition, voice commands, app offloading, a child lock, multi-user functionality, battery health checks, and phone tracking. Wi-Fi password sharing, focus modes, Quick Start, and the ability to function as a PC are not available, and the device does not receive direct OS updates from the vendor.

The Tecno Camon 40 is equipped with a 5200 mAh rechargeable battery that supports 45W wired fast charging, and a charger is included in the box. A battery level indicator is present for monitoring charge status. The battery is not removable, and wireless charging is not supported.

The Tecno Camon 40 includes stereo speakers and a built-in radio, covering the basics for on-device audio output. It does not feature a 3.5 mm headphone jack, and none of the advanced Bluetooth audio codecs — aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX Lossless, or LDAC — are supported.

The Tecno Camon 40 supports dual SIM cards and connects via Wi-Fi, a cellular module, and a USB Type-C port running USB 2.0, with download speeds of up to 650 MBits/s and upload speeds of up to 150 MBits/s, though 5G is not supported. NFC is present for short-range communication, and location capabilities are covered by GPS and Galileo satellite support. The sensor array includes a gyroscope, accelerometer, and compass, while a fingerprint scanner handles biometric authentication; 3D facial recognition and an iris scanner are not available. Features such as a heart rate monitor, barometer, infrared sensor, ANT+ support, HDMI output, motion tracking, optical tracking, crash detection, emergency SOS via satellite, DLNA certification, a built-in projector, and a stylus are all absent from this model.

The Tecno Camon 40 features a curved display and includes a video light for illumination during video recording. The screen is not made of sapphire glass, and the device does not use an e-paper display.
