The ASRock B850 Pro-A is an ATX form factor motherboard built around the AM5 socket and compatible with the B850 chipset, fitting standard full-size cases with its 305 x 244 mm dimensions. It supports overclocking and comes equipped with RGB lighting and a dual BIOS feature for firmware recovery, though it does not offer an easy CMOS reset button. The board accommodates a single CPU and carries no integrated processor or onboard graphics. Wireless connectivity is absent, as neither Wi-Fi nor Bluetooth is included. A 3-year warranty is provided, and the board exposes an HDMI 2.1 output for display connectivity.
The board features four DDR5 memory slots arranged across two channels, supporting a maximum installed capacity of 256GB. Overclocked RAM speeds of up to 8000 MHz are supported, giving users flexibility when configuring higher-performance memory kits. ECC memory is not supported, so the board is oriented toward consumer rather than workstation or server use cases.
The rear I/O panel provides a varied USB selection, including four USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port, one USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C port, and six USB 2.0 ports; there are no USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A, Gen 2x2, USB 4, Thunderbolt 3, or Thunderbolt 4 ports present. For display output, an HDMI port is available, while DisplayPort, DVI, and VGA connectors are absent. Network connectivity is handled by a single RJ45 Ethernet jack, and legacy ports such as eSATA and PS/2 are not included.
Internal connectivity is well-stocked, with four M.2 sockets and four SATA 3 connectors for storage; no SATA 2, U.2, or mSATA connections are present. USB expansion headers include two USB 3.2 Gen 1 connectors, two USB 3.0 connectors, one USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 connector, and three USB 2.0 headers for additional front-panel or bracket ports. Cooling is supported through seven fan headers, and a TPM connector is also present for security module integration.
The board offers two full-length PCIe slots: one PCIe 5.0 x16 and one PCIe 4.0 x16, covering the primary expansion needs for discrete graphics cards or high-speed add-in cards. There are no PCIe 3.0, 2.0, x8, x4, or x1 slots, and no legacy PCI slots are present, keeping the expansion layout straightforward and focused on the two modern full-bandwidth slots.
The onboard audio supports 7.1-channel output, accessible through three analog audio connectors on the rear panel. A S/PDIF output port is not included, so digital optical or coaxial audio passthrough is not available on this board.
The board supports RAID 0, RAID 1, and RAID 10 configurations for flexible storage array setups, whether the priority is performance, redundancy, or a combination of both. RAID 5 and RAID 0+1 are not supported.
