Oppo A5 5G

The Oppo A5 5G has a standard candy-bar form factor — it does not fold and lacks a rugged build. It measures 165.7 mm tall, 76.2 mm wide, and 8 mm thick, with a total volume of 101.01072 cm³ and a weight of 194 g. On the durability side, the device carries an IP65 ingress protection rating, confirming it is water resistant and sealed against dust, though it is not designed to withstand the harsher conditions that a fully rugged construction would imply.

The Oppo A5 5G features a 6.67″ IPS LCD touchscreen with a resolution of 720 x 1604 px and a pixel density of 264 ppi. The panel runs at a 120Hz refresh rate, and is protected by Gorilla Glass 7i for added scratch and impact resistance. The screen does not support HDR10, HDR10+, or Dolby Vision, and there is no Always-On Display mode or secondary screen.

The Oppo A5 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset, an octa-core SoC built on a 6 nm process with a CPU configuration of 2 cores at 2.4 GHz and 6 cores at 2 GHz, running 8 threads in total with support for big.LITTLE and HMP technologies. The chip includes integrated LTE, integrated graphics via an Arm Mali-G57 MC2 GPU clocked at 950 MHz, and supports DirectX 12. It is paired with 8GB of DDR4 RAM running at 2133 MHz and a maximum supported memory amount of 12GB, alongside 256GB of internal storage. Memory bandwidth reaches up to 17.07 GB/s, while the cache hierarchy consists of 512 KB L1, 1 MB L2, and 2 MB L3. In benchmark testing, the chipset scores 782 in Geekbench 6 single-core and 2012 in the multi-core test. The SoC supports 64-bit processing and multithreading throughout.

The Oppo A5 5G has a dual-lens rear camera system consisting of a 50 MP primary sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and a 2 MP secondary lens at f/2.4, both using a CMOS sensor without back-side illumination. Autofocus is handled via phase detection and touch AF, while continuous autofocus is available during video recording; laser autofocus is not present. The main camera records video at 1080p and 30 fps with support for slow-motion capture, but does not offer optical image stabilization, optical zoom, HDR10 recording, Dolby Vision recording, or 3D capture. A single LED flash is included, with no dual-tone or RGB flash option. Manual controls cover ISO, exposure, focus, and white balance, though manual shutter speed is not available; additional shooting modes include HDR, burst, panorama, and timelapse. The Oppo A5 5G ships with Android 15, a free and open-source platform that supports multiple user accounts and includes on-device machine learning. Privacy tooling covers clipboard warnings, location controls, and camera/microphone access management, though Mail Privacy Protection and cross-site tracking blocking are not available. The OS offers a range of personalization options including theme customization, dynamic theming, dark mode, and an extra dim mode, while focus modes and Quick Start are absent. Productivity features include split-screen multitasking, Picture-in-Picture, full-page screenshots, a media picker, customizable notifications with granular permission controls, sharing intents, widgets, and the ability to play games while they are still downloading. App offloading is supported, as is Live Text for selecting text within images. On the security and utility side, the device includes a child lock, phone tracking, battery health check, offline voice recognition, and voice commands. Wi-Fi password sharing and the ability to use the device as a PC are not supported, and OS updates do not come directly from the platform vendor.

The Oppo A5 5G is equipped with a 6000 mAh rechargeable, non-removable battery that supports 45W wired fast charging. Wireless charging is not available. A battery level indicator is built in, allowing users to monitor charge status at a glance.

The Oppo A5 5G includes stereo speakers for audio output but omits a 3.5 mm headphone jack, so wired headphones would require an adapter. For wireless audio, the device supports aptX HD, though standard aptX, aptX Adaptive, aptX Lossless, and LDAC are not available. There is no built-in radio tuner.

The Oppo A5 5G supports 5G connectivity alongside a dual-SIM cellular module, Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n) and Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac), and Bluetooth 5.4. It includes NFC, a USB Type-C port running USB 2.0, and an external memory slot for storage expansion. Download speeds reach up to 3300 Mbit/s. For navigation, the device has GPS with Galileo support, a compass, and an accelerometer, while a gyroscope, barometer, and infrared sensor are absent. A fingerprint scanner handles biometric authentication; 3D facial recognition and an iris scanner are not available. The device does not include a heart rate monitor, ANT+ support, motion or optical tracking, a built-in projector, or an HDMI output, and crash detection and emergency SOS via satellite are also not featured.

The Oppo A5 5G includes a video light for illumination during video recording. The display is flat rather than curved, uses no e-paper technology, and is not protected by sapphire glass.
