The Asus Prime B850-Plus is built around the AM5 socket with B850 chipset compatibility and follows the standard ATX form factor, measuring 305 mm wide and 244 mm tall. It supports a single CPU and does not include an integrated CPU or integrated graphics. The board features dual BIOS with an easy CMOS reset option and supports overclocking, making BIOS management and tuning more accessible. RGB lighting is present, and a video output is provided via HDMI 2.1. Neither Wi-Fi nor Bluetooth is built in, so wireless connectivity would require a separate adapter. The board comes with a 3-year warranty.
The board supports DDR5 memory across four slots in a dual-channel configuration, with a maximum capacity of 256GB. Overclocked RAM speeds can reach up to 8000 MHz, providing headroom for performance-oriented memory kits. ECC memory is not supported.
The rear I/O panel offers a solid range of USB connectivity, including three USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port, and two USB 2.0 ports. Higher-speed standards such as USB 3.2 Gen 2x2, USB4, Thunderbolt 3, and Thunderbolt 4 are not present. For display output, there is one HDMI port and one DisplayPort output, while VGA and DVI are absent. A single RJ45 port handles wired network connectivity. There are no eSATA or PS/2 ports.
Storage connectivity is handled by three M.2 sockets and four SATA 3 connectors, while SATA 2, mSATA, and U.2 are not available. For internal USB expansion, the board provides two USB 3.2 Gen 1 headers, two additional USB 3.0 headers, and four USB 2.0 expansion ports. Cooling is supported through six fan headers, and a TPM connector is also present for security module use.
The board provides two full-length expansion slots: one PCIe 5.0 x16 and one PCIe 4.0 x16, covering the two most current generations for discrete card installation. There are no PCIe 3.0, PCIe 2.0, PCIe x8, PCIe x4, PCIe x1, or legacy PCI slots present, keeping the layout focused rather than broad.
The onboard audio supports 7.1-channel surround sound and is accessible through three analog audio connectors. An S/PDIF Out port is not included.
The board supports four RAID configurations: RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5, and RAID 10, covering a range of performance and redundancy setups. RAID 0+1 is not supported.
