The Asus TUF Gaming B850-E Wi-Fi is built around the AM5 socket with B850 chipset compatibility, housed in a standard ATX form factor measuring 305 mm wide and 244 mm tall. It includes built-in Wi-Fi spanning versions 4 through 6E and Bluetooth 5.3, though aptX audio is not supported. The board features HDMI 2.1 output, RGB lighting, and practical usability touches such as easy overclocking support, a dedicated BIOS reset mechanism, and a dual BIOS configuration for added reliability. It does not include integrated graphics or an integrated CPU, carries a three-year warranty, and accommodates a single processor.
This motherboard supports DDR5 memory across four slots arranged in a dual-channel configuration, with a maximum supported capacity of 256 GB. Overclocked RAM speeds can reach up to 8000 MHz, giving enthusiasts meaningful headroom for memory tuning. ECC memory is not supported.
The rear I/O panel offers a varied USB lineup, including one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A port, three USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port, and three USB 2.0 ports; there are no USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C, Gen 2x2, USB 4, Thunderbolt 3, or Thunderbolt 4 ports present. Video output is handled through an HDMI port and one DisplayPort, while a VGA connector, DVI output, and eSATA are absent. Networking is covered by a single RJ45 port, and the panel includes no PS/2 connectors.
For internal expansion, the board provides two USB 3.2 Gen 1 headers, two USB 3.0 headers, one USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 header, and four USB 2.0 headers, allowing for a broad range of front-panel and add-in connectivity options. Storage is served by three M.2 sockets and four SATA 3 connectors, with no SATA 2, U.2, or mSATA connectors present. Cooling is well catered for with six fan headers on board, and there is no TPM connector included.
The board's expansion slot layout includes one PCIe 5.0 x16 slot and one PCIe 4.0 x16 slot for discrete cards, alongside a single PCIe x1 slot for smaller add-in boards. There are no PCIe 2.0, PCIe 3.0, PCIe x4, PCIe x8, or legacy PCI slots present.
The board supports 7.1-channel audio output through three analog audio connectors on the rear I/O. There is no S/PDIF Out port included.
The board supports RAID 0, 1, 5, and 10 configurations, covering a practical range of performance and redundancy setups. RAID 0+1 is not supported.
